my car just hit 88,000 miles n my maintenance light turned from yellow to red. should i be worried about anything? i had my timing belt replaced about a month ago. i havent changed the smaller stuff like sparks n wires. i have a 3.0, the manual says that can wait til 105,000.

 

Yeah, your manual says 105, but you have interval tuneups as well. 15k, 30k, 60k, 90k, and 120k.

 

That light is just a reminder, you can reset it yourself, just stick your key in the hole and push the button, so if you don't think you need anything done, just reset it.

 

when it turns red put the key in teh slot then keep driving thats what i do

You just stick your key in it. If you don't your engine will shut down and you'll have to tow it to the dealership and get new sensors and a head gasket.

yeah and if you have a 3.0 it will mean your tranny will go out in the next 15k miles

mine changed to yellow when it hit 86,000 n then red at 88,000. well as long as i did my timing belt. i guess i shouldnt worry.

 

It turns yellow when your approaching 7500 miles and red when you go past 7500 since the last service/oil change. (or since you hit the reset)

it's not really a light. it's more like a mileage counter. like the others said, it's for keeping track of the oil change

green is normal. i found and looked at my manual. yellow is 7500 miles since last service and red is after 7500 miles. thx for all the posts guys.

 

mine changed colors every 7500 miles.. but.. nowadays... it kinda stopped doing anything.. almost like it died
