Looking At Purchasing a CL, any advice?
Hello, my name is Josh, I am a Acuraholic
That said, I've had a few over-the-hill integras and I want to spend a little more on my vehicle this time around and I'm looking at getting a 1997-1999 Acura CL. I really like the 3.0 Auto setup and I know in previous years that also gave the car the "Premium Package" and I'm looking for loaded. In your guy's opinion what information is most valuable when looking into this particular generation CL. I've read conflicting issues on whether the 99 auto trans had the simular problems that the second gens had? Any and all advice is appreciated! I am looking forward to my purchase and becoming a contributing member to your wonderful forum...

Welcome Josh, the 3.0 premium is a great car, that's exactly what I have. Sadly, all 3 years of the auto trans in the first gen are notoriously bad. If you baby them and keep up on fluid changes, you can stretch them pretty far. I had mine rebuilt and it's been bullet proof ever since.
