Lead acts as a lubricant on those vehicals. People had more problems running unleaded in cars that were made for leaded, not the other way around.
I've been running leaded fuel in my cl now for months with the occasional tank to attempt to wash away lead deposits that are left on the 02 sensors. I have not had one problem and the car does run better with leaded than unleaded, whether or not the unleaded is 100 octane or not. Your valve seats were ate up by some other reason.
If anything, the seat material on cars nowadays are superior to that of material in the leaded gas days as they are hards and withstand the heat from unleaded gasses.
There was a day when I'd go to a Sunoco and fill er up with 108 octane. They had a dial on the side of the pump and you turned it to the desired octane you wanted, anywhere from 90 octane and up.
Cheers and keep us posted on your ride, looking forward to seeing some numbers!

Mmmmmm......yea I did love the way the car ran with 110 leaded race gas. Never had a problem with it throughout every run that night. But as soon as I switched back to unleaded 91 octane 3 days later, my car gave out on me about 10 minutes later.
I always thought that leaded gas contained some metal compound that eats away the valve seats. I also thought that leaded gas ran a lot hotter than unleaded gas.
I have always tried researching the topic online, but always come up with biased information. I'm going to have to agree with you, untill I find hard evidence that leaded gas can cause for valve seats to be destroyed.

Making some progress. I removed the delay in the build by picking up my parts from the builder I unfortunatley decided to go with. I had been waiting since aug of 04 on this thing. He's doing nothing I can't do anyway after looking into it a bit.
Anyway, I had to send 4 pistons back to CP because the guy that had my parts had a flood and 4 of the pistons ended up corroded some, but CP gave them the thumbs up. I did have to send them back to be re-coated, now just waiting for them to arrive back to my doorstep and I'll start to mock up the motor. Which leads me to a question for you.
On one of your motors you have laying around, Do you have the complete parts for the front of the motor? I'm looking for cam gears, tensioner, crank gear, covers, old belt, the works. I need this for a measurement involving the crank I have. There is a possibility that the crank I have may not work, but need these parts to see.
Sorry for the slight highjack of this thread, let me know what you have and if you'd like to part with it or loan it to me for a while. thanks

Are you using the stock Cl-S 6 speed ecu? Sorry if I overlooked something in the thread about that.

anyways you stay away from the super trendy areas and then you'll have fun. if your in the seaside area you should really head over to point pleasant or belmar instead, however they are starting to become infiltrated as well. what you should really do is get a bunch of friends and hit up LBI or further south. much different crowd. one of the only states that you can do pretty much anything within 1.5hr drive.
southern jersey is almost the equivalent of the US south. northern and central jersey is where the majority of the real wealthy areas are due to the close location to NYC, they are surrounded by not so nice places though.
