Just installed my short shifter

Just got my B&M short shifter in the mail today.....and installed it right after work. It was a breeze to put in. Took less than a half an hour to put it in. It didn't shorten the throw as much as I dreamed it would....but it's definately shorter and more precise. It hits the gates right on the money....and dang....it feels like I can fly now! I imagined it to be shorter, but no doubt you can shift faster off the line....it feels great! Everyone with a 5-speed should get one of these!

Veteran sounding like a newbie...j/k

I had to remove the console. I got mine from re-racing.com. They have it for $64.29

I love mine Shifting without it sucked. Also helps to get a smaller knob, that will shorten it a good bit too. I put the s2k knob on and it also helped. Install is a breeze, you just have to prop open the console around the radio/shifter/coin holder/storage bin. Easy.

you have to remove the whole center console on the 97's. it's much easier on the 98's because the wood trim comes up.

i love my B&M... i got it for about 40 bucks from a local shop.

If I don't want to change the whole shifter but just the knob, is that super-easy? Does it just screw off? I looked at it a while ago but it didn't seem like it just twisted off, either that or it's on there REAL tight... btw 99 2.3CL 5-speed...

It's just on there REAL tight, I was afraid to unscrew it the first time cause I thought I'd break somethin, but just try real hard and it'll come off. (if it's anything like my 98 5spd, that is...)

EDIT: obviously slide the shift boot down first before you unscrew the knob.

You'd get the one for the 94-97 accord, it fits perfect. The B&M comes with really good instructions so that just about anybody can put it in. Like everybody said before, there's two screws under the cd holder thing in the center counsel, then one screw under the cup holder (it's the lonely screw closest to the front of the car), that basically takes off the entire center counsel. Then there's two screws that become revealed after taking out the counsel that loosen the wood trim. Then there's one screw after you pull out your ashtray, then boom, you can pull out your entire wood trim. Once you get to the shifter it's cake. Just make sure you have a buncha allen wrenches around. You need one tiny one and one medium sized one....I had to run to the hardware store in the middle of my install! I got mine from Lightning Motor Sports online for 60.13.....sorry for the long post!
