Jacking up my car!!??

I was wondering if there was anywhere else to jack up my 2.2 CL other than the four points designated for the jack in the manual?

I want to jack up either the whole front end or the whole rear end rather than 1 corner at a time.

??_<?recommend jacking anywhere other than the jack points. That's why they are there. If you want to lift up the whole front or back, get jack stands or ramps. They're cheap. Better to pay $20 than have your jack shoot through your floorpan.

That's what happened in F&F when his floorpan flew off. His jack knocked the rivets loose and the nozzz just blew it off.

If you want to do that then I would strongly suggest you get jackstands. It is much safer than leaving a jack under it to do all the work. If the jack fails and you are under it.... goodbye.

When you jack up one corner you can put a jackstand under one corner or if you are cheap you can use a cinder-block and then go to the opposite corner and lift to put the other stand under it.

You can also buy the ramps that you drive up onto if you are not doing work on wheels/suspension etc.

There is a small tow loop in the center of the rear where the spare tire is. I've never tried it though so you are on your own.

You know the thing is I bought jack stands, but when I use the stock jack to jack up the car, I can't fit the jack stand in there! there's no room to slide it in.....do I lift it somewhere else and then set the jack stands there or do I attempt to use the axles??? That would be dangerous no?

This is exactly my problem...I have jackstands, but when I jack the car up with a jack, there is no place to put the jackstand. There must be another place to jack the car up...but where???

jack it with a floor jack from the bottom of the engine.. like where the cross beam is.. just look under your car for a support.. anything works.. its a unibody.. just make sure its not important.. like a oil pan or something

yo, go out to any auto store, buy a 2 ton floor jack, theyre max 20$,, and use those,,,,,,theyre PRO.......and jack from any part of the frame.......as long as youre not jacking from the floor pan or oil pan as f0de said, then youre good.........just jack the front from anywhere heavy duty near the engine, put the stands on the jack points, then do the hooky thing in the back, and stick the stands at the rear jack points......its not rocket science, as long as youre jacking from strong spots of the frame.....good luck!

under the engine at the end of the main beam there is a tow hook... on my Craftman 2 1/4 ton jack there is a small round plate which is the jacking surface.. jack car with the tow hook in the center of the plate on the jack ....note: the tow hook is located dead center in between your two front tires.... if you look at your skid plate there is actually a cut out so you can slide the jack trough with clearance.... i do it all the time... while the whole front end is jacked up, slide the jack stand on each side.
it is CAKE

Definitely do NOT use the axle. In fact don't use the bottom of the engine. You will most definitely destroy something jacking up the car this way.

If you have a floor jack, there is a center mount area on every car. Check you manual or repair book for the specific spot.

If the underside of the CL is like any car I have ever owned, the manual tells you to use an spot with hard to see arrow by it on the very outer edge of car. Use this spot to jack the car up. However if you look towards the center of the car you should find a large bar on each side (right and left) running from just past the engine bay to just before the rear wheels. This is part of the frame. Place your jack stands underneath the frame. In fact when you take your car to a professional, they place the lift on the frame.

So jack up your car as per the manual and place the jack stands underneath the frame. If you're not 100% sure were the frame is, swing by a gas station with a repair garage or an oil change place and just ask them to show you.
