iPod Location / Connection

I'm not sure how many of you use iPods instead of cd players the majority of the time now in your CL, but for those of us who do how do you have yours set up?

Location / Connection

I'm using the Belkin Auto Kit for iPod with Dock Connector Black
http://www.superwarehouse.com/Belkin...-BLK/p/1492373
Its nice since it charges, and transmits at the same time. The issue I'm having is in a city like Houston that I live in there are so many radio stations that it can get real static. I wish they had put in an aux jack into the 3.0 Premium CL's Bose stereo.

I'm trying to find a good place to keep it from moving around while driving and sort of Velcro which would be tacky as hell I can't think of anything.

The cup holder is looking like the best bet so far.

if you've got an aftermarket Stereo, chances are that there's an aux plug you can hook up from the back of the unit. That's what I've done.. all I needed was a 7 dollar cable and im good to go..

check it:

if you notice, I've got the cable running right from the side of the plastic, and i usually sit my ipod in the cup holder or in the arm rest / compartment.

I guess the debate is now either buy an after market stereo with an aux jack, and drop the Bose packaged one and keep the speakers because they sound great. The car is a one owner before for me, and older women who didn't even use it.

Is the Bose receiver worth holding on too?

No...

In my expierience, any fm modulator type system. Sucks...

It would be in your best interest to drop the blows and get some aftermarket deck..

It was said later down that though that the Ipod2car replaces your cd changer abilities, not your cd abilities.

Here ya go Ryan, here's the pics I did from Zero's install, here's how I hid the IPod interface, I hid the interface box on the top of the head unit, and ran the wires over to the glove box, no wires visable

Box hidden above the HU

Most, if not all new decks have some sort of an ipod connection. Whether it be an actual ipod connection or just a line in jack. If you get one with an ipod connection, you can run your ipod through your deck. Meaning, you can change songs, browse songs, all through your deck.

Yeah, my headunit allows me to search all through the HU. I have stuff in my center console or thats where I would of put it. Its easier in my glove box. Plus I can always lock up the glove box and if I ever need to use my iPod other than in my car or if I need to update the playlists it's easy to take it. But yeah most new HUs have that capability. If you go with Pioneer you'll need to get a seperate iPod hook up that works flawlessly with the HU and isnt that bad to use.

I reccomend if you have a lot of songs, make a playlist of not that many songs that you like to play so if you want to find it, it'll be easier than searching through everything.

With all that said. Be sure to stay with a name brand.. The deck is one place (if any when it comes to stereo) to not skimp on..

Stick with Pioneer, Alpine, Kenwood, Eclipse.....etc... They all have connectors for the ipod that allow you to control the ipod through your deck... Usually sold seperate.

Ah ok thanks for the heads up. I'll put the money in for a good product for sure. Whats the connectors called that you have to buy seperately?

With controling the ipod through the HU you don't really need access to it, I was thinking about making a hidden mount for mine, the only reason I'd need to take it out is to load new songs on it.

No, when you buy a Apple laptop with an educational discount you get a $199 rebate on any ipod. The apple laptops than again are pretty expensive.

Thats what I just said. Read the fine print. Nano's are 199, the rebate is 199 therefore that equals FREE. And yeah your right theres larger ones for lower prices.
