iPod in CL Question
iPod in CL Question
Hey I was wondering if anyone custom mounted an iPod into there CL? Also giving you the freedom to take it with you when your not driving, but then to just dock it in the car when your driving.

A little outdated, but still good info.
I'm thinking of getting a blitzsafe adapter and using the cupholder thing (run all wires under middle console).

From what their web site says www.mp3yourcar.com it works on most cars. My dad has a Lexus and is on a wait list so when they make one for his car they will contact him. Mine is still working great. It plugs into the back of the stock deck and makes a direct connection so the sound quality is good. It also charges the iPod and one thing that I like over the Alpine unit is the neo ion still uses the iPods interface including play list options ect.

I think Monster is coming out with another option to connect your ipod directly to the car stereo. It's called the iCruze and it supposedly connects to the stock headunit. I dont know how much $$$ it's going to be.
I too looked into integrating my ipod into my car but certainly did not want to spend too much money. I just recentley ordered this from Monster, Ultra-Low Profile Charger for iPod® with Dock Connection.
Since its low profile, it goes into the cigarette lighter pretty flat, im then going to run the wire through the dash in the little hole where the fog light switch would go (I have a 97 3.0CL) underneath the shifter and whatnot and into the cupholder. I'm then going to cut out the left side of the cupholder so that my iPod in its case can fit in there. From there, the monster cable connects to the ipod and then a normal audio cable will go from the monster cable to my headunit (a panasonic cq-dfx983u) with rear auxillary rca inputs.
In my case I would control my iPod from the ipod itself, not the headunit, but at least it would look good, nothing would be hanging over the dash, and itll get powered as well.
I know, I know, this thread is worthless without pics... I will post them as soon as I get everything don.

I had a setup in my CL with the stock radio. The audio came in through the tape player. I used a headphone remote to change tracks and hardwired the cigarette charger to the battery. The sound was good, but I wanted to controll the iPod from the head unit.
I just installed an Alpine with the AiNet iPod adapter. It works great, but the sound is about the same. I think that it would get a lot better if I replaced the speakers.
