never done it on a 3.0, but it should be pretty similar to this

Unbolted just the top? you gotta take the air filter out and there are more bolts inside. Then just yank the hose clamps off the vacuum lines and so forth and you should be good to go. Check back if you have more questions, it's pretty straight forward on the 3.0

so im confused. i removed my air filter box, and now im sposed to remove the resonator below the air box? or am i not. i think theres enough room.. but i dont want to take that thing off because it look like a #@&! to take out and put back in lol. also the tubing that goes into the intake doesnt match up, so im guessing i should fabricate some tubes to make it match up?

For a short ram you don't need to remove it.

You don't need to match the tube if you have the rubber piece that hooks them together

Sound maybe, hp no
To get that out, you have to jack up the car, take the wheel off, take the inner fenderwell out, etc. It's a giant pain

Take off the top of the airbox, disconnect the 2 hoses going to the stock intake tube, pull off the intake tube, take out the bottom portion of the airbox, put the filter on the new pipe, clamp it down, then take the rubber tube thing and put it on the other end of the intake, put that on the throttle body and clamp down and then attach the intake to the body with whatever screws it goes to...

Or do like I did a LOOOOONG time ago:

Oh and take off that one cover that is covering a portion of the TB.. It is a lot easier to do it that way.

rigged it with a capital N

um the intake isnt really mounted yet but it just looks ghetto...

e 1st intake tube closest to the engine was in the way of the intake so i just tucked it underneath the intake and wrapped it around. i couldnr really take the metal middle part off cuz it is welded to to another pipe which i dont know the purpose of.

every thing looks bolted on i havent fired the car up yet cuz the filter is rubbing against the car and i want to mount and pad the intake so it doesnt rattle. any advice to make this intake look a little cleaner?

you can take that entire thing off and do one of 2 things. Go to a auto parts store and get a foot of coolant hose. I forget the size, but it will run from the engine to the throttle body thus allowing you to take that entire metal piping thing off. Then take the hose that came with the intake and attach it to where that metal piping went (the front head) and to the intake.

Or the second thing is disconnect that metal piping and get the hose to go from the block directly to the intake. Its what everyone does i might add when they dont want to mess with the coolant line.. They just let it lay in the engine bay and it doesnt bother anything or anyone... It just sits there on top of wires and whatever else in below it..

I know its my 3.2, however what you see done is that metal piping removed and the hose going from the front head to the intake...

you gotta unbolt the airbox.. leave the resonator in there.. you dont need to take it out unless you're running CAI.. i left my resonator in.

Seriously, taking your bumper off is easier..

Thats what I did to get mine out. But then again I had my bumper off anyways.. You wont gain or lose anything from taking it off other than about 5lbs.

I got it installed. and after i turned that puppy on i thought
"damn that humming is worse than i thought it would be"
my next project is reducing it into something bearable. i did some searching and ways to reduce it were.
1. air box stuffed with towels
2. removing the resonator (but i also read that it increased humming)
3. wrapping in dyno mat.
4. mounting the sri properly.
5. or getting an extension and going to cai. (i will probably end up doing this)

oh well i havent been able to have the vtec kick in cuz my hood is smashed.. but after i get the car fixed. i for sure will break this intake in

Wrapping in dynamat and the other ideas aren't very good. Either secure it correctly, get a k&n filter or switch it to cai

I removed my resonator today and it was a huge PIA getting the box and the tube out. Finally I managed to drop the plastic that was under the bumper (a lot easier than trying to take it out near the tire).

Clips were a breeze to take out (not sure how people managed to break them). I took a total of like 5 out.

ummm, yeah, wrapping it in dynamat definately doesnt sound good, not to mention the cost of such a thing.......... if you wanna go the dynamat way, have your firewall dynamatted, and then get a dynamat hoodliner, keep that sound inside the engine bay

Dynamat is not really good for high temp applications either, it melts and drips off

And I don't think that someone with "Magnaflow exhaust 2 1/2"piping" would want to make their engine silent anyways.
