Increase in popularity?

Do you guys think that first gen CL's will become more popular in the import mod world now that they are falling out of the hands of people who can afford brand new acuras and into the hands of teens willing to spend dough to have a hooked up ride? Or do you guys think this is as good as it gets?

i dont think it will get too much better, but the peak will be in about 3 years, after that the cars are starting to get pretty old to put any realy money into.

I'm with you... when I got my CL, I was one of the only "young" (23) people that I seen driving a CL, nowadays, I see more & more.... because all of the people that could afford brand new first gen CLs are now driving brand new 2nd gens, or the benz..

I hope we can get more CL into some avid import performance enthusiasts' hands. With more support maybe we can get some more stuff (like affordable headers, and cat-back exhausts for the 3.0).

The more popular it gets, the less unique a nicely modded CL will become. BUT, there will be more parts. But, I agree with you, I think more and more low 20s kids are getting these cars, while the older crowd moves on. Plus, if people leased these cars in 98 or 99, now they are being returned, so more and more will be available.

I think if Acura would have kept the body design for 1 more year we would have alot more stuff. Three years for the 1st gen body style just wasn't long enough for me

JamzCl, I agree, thats why the teg is popular. The model before the RSX was out for 8 years!!! Almost 3 times as long as our Cl's were out. If the first gen Cl was out for 8 years we would be a force in the import world. That's why I wished car manufacturers kept a body style for 6,7, or even 8 years. Not only would the cost of the car go down (because they can cut their R&D budget by a significant amount) but aftermarket stuff would be much more available, and when a new model does come out it would be much more of an event and also be much more improved then the previous model.

well im only 18 and i got my cl when i was 17 and yeah i agree its a bit pricey for a teenager to be affording a car like this... so i would give it a few more years for the prices to drop and then i think a lot more teenagers will fix it up. im one of the few kids in my city to driving a cl

yeah i think you have a point about seeing more and more modded CLs. Actually i seem to see more and more 1st generation CL's period. Kinda weird since i was one of the few with one when we bought it in '96 (think it was 96). Now they seem to be everywhere.

Maybe the reason you see more CL's now is because they're falling into a younger crowd. They probably have less resposibility and are less tired and stressed out then older people. Instead of going home tired after work (or school or some bums proabably don't do either), they hang out.

nah well be fine!!!! at least in the tri state area. i really dont see may 1st gens. i see about 10 new cls for every 1st gen i see. not to mention i see about one modded cl for about every 100 new cls i see
oh yeah honstly i dont see many kids opting for a 145 or 150 hp cl when they can get a celica gts (used) or rsx (used) or civic si (used), teg gsr, etc with lots mo power for same price or a little more. i takes a certain kind of kid to buy a cl be orignal and take the long road to speed and class. i mean a 97 cl 2.2 5 spd u can still easily get 11,000 for it. a fully loaded 97 gsr u can get for the same price. 4000 more an u can get a 00 gts. i dont see many choosin the cl. most people are followers not leaders. the teg, civic, celica, etc will always dominate.

Does that mean we are leaders or I didn't get this right?

I like how that sounds.......
