Exclamation im hearing something in my engine

i have a 98 2.3 auto...the noise is like something metal is grating..i cant really pinpoint the location of the noise, but it sounds like its coming from the engine.. its a loud grating noise when i accelerate between 1300 and 2000 rpms...if i hold it between those rpms, the grating noise persists and wont go away until i either let go of the gas or accelerate.. i also hear it at around 3000-3200 rpm...anybody have an idea of what the noise could be or how i could fix it?

it could be your heatshield. Mine needs to be changed. It's not a loud but it is a grating noise.

One way to make sure is to start your car, leave it in park and listen for the sound. If it comes from underneath you, it could be the heatshield.

It honestly might be ur heatshield. I kinda have that happenin when I rev or in high rev. Leave it in idle but press the gas a bit...either in neutral or park. enought to cause a slight vibration. If u hear it then it might be the shield.
If not, go take it someplace

You know. I hear that too. All off my acura/honda engines had it. My first F23B sounded like that around 2500-3000 rpm. You wouldnt really hear it while driving by if you slowly gased it on neutral i heard it. Both of my H22s have it. Don't know what it is but I would suggest to change your oil.
