Ignition Retard

Does anyone know the name or model number of the MSD ignition part that allows you to retard the ignition on the actual unit with out an external device? Also what do I need for my complete ignition for the (23)......Ignition, Coil, New cap, and wires. Anything that I am forgetting or any of those items not necessary.

Thanks

MSD BTM is the one that allows for adjustment of your timig. You'll also need a coil and some thicker wires than the stock ones. Thats about it.

You can run it with the stock ignition if you like. All it does is interupt the signal from the ecu to the distributor.

It only retards under boost and nothing else (not NOS, rpm, etc.)

Why do you want to retard the ignition timing for nitrous??? A nitrous kit should work fine with the stock timing.

They reccoment 2 deg retard with 75 shot. I want to do it as safe as possible including adaquate fuel and fire as well as the trans cooler. I have learned in the past with things, it is better to do it correct the first time, instead of half ass, and then having to go back and clean up your mistakes.

If you don't want to mess with the ignition timing you could just dump in a bottle of octane boost when you know you're gonna be spraying the 75 shot, or put in a couple gallons of race gas.

23 you can reatard your timing by using a timing gun or light to accurately adjust your timing. Any mechanic should be able to do it.
And Adam you your are suppose to retard your timing according to the zex instruction manual and only use 93+ octane gas (premium).

dcsquirm88...do you use race fuel at all when your at the track. Just wondering how you like it? Also, I have to find some mechanic that can do it I guess. Without buying the redard box. What do you guys think of the MDS SCI?

Never have used race fuel or any octane booster. Regualr premium gas has seemed to do just fine. I have an msd 6al with a master balster 2 coil that I will be installing in my car next week or the following when I do my h22 swap.

The f23a is perfect. It handled the shot just great. Never had a single problem with it. I just needed more power so h22 was the next step. If anyone wants to buy an f23a let me know I have one for sale . I'm sure you'll love how much faster your will be with the 75 shot. Just don't spray off the line or you'll never get any traction. Good luck.

The msd sci is working good for me. I noticed better throttle response and it seems to pull a little harder. Not a big difference but still an improvement. The main reason I upgraded my ignition is because I'll be installing some nitrous later on.
