I feel like a cheater
I know this is usually something that should be posted in the D&R forum but I feel closer to you guys here in the 1st gen discussion.
For a few months now, my girl just hasn't been the same to me, she talks differently, just doesn't give me the excitement that I once felt with her, and her weight is really getting to me. I don't want to sound like an asshole, but sometimes it is the small things that really matter. I really want to move on but don't feel like I can just yet, so I sit with her hardly smiling anymore, wondering to myself, what should I do?
Pics of GF:
Seriously though, I'm so sick of this heavy, sloppy handling, and slow car with its 18 wheeler turning radius. Sure the interior is comfortable and spacious and it was definitely a nice upgrade from an 89 accord lxi, but I don't think I can do it anymore. I drive it every day wanting more. And that's not something an engine swap or a turbo is going to fix.
suit on.

I love the uniqueness and lines. I love the sound mine makes now and the handling is ridiculously better with a drop and some suspension upgrades. With that said more of what I like was the result of improvements to the base.

i like the fact that the CL is kinda rare. people don't know what it is when they see it. i like the luxury inside. i love the rims, even though they're stockies. the gas mileage is incredible, even with aggressive driving. but what i love most is when the girls get in the car, they say "this is the coooolesttttt car ive ever rode innn!!" <--and im serious about that one.
i'm not looking for an Evo in a CL. i'm happy with who she is.

yea yea... they are nice looking cars or whatever... but after a while u realize that there is zero fun factor. mods for these cars are hella expensive and a minor fender bender can cause the car to have a salvaged title because the part are expensive to replace.

lol i wasnt tryin to argue i do think the car has a unique look i for one really like the ass end shaping. just most of the chicks around here like all the expensive bmw's and such all the rich boys have. It's nice to hear our cars are appreciated by the opposite sex. and heck yea parts for these are so expensive im lucky to have a honda acura salvage yard here local i got a center cap for $10

Yes, exactly. The Prelude is such a better chassis, had 2/3 the milage and is more fun to drive. I gave up zero uniques factor, there are less BB1s than CLs in my area. at least modded ones and not rusted to shit and automatic h23s.
Mind you, I made some sacrifices for body condition, comfort and gas economy. But 2 years later, I still satisfied.
Do whatever you feel like in the end, but I felt like i need something different.

I started wanting a Prelude for a while. But after riding in Carsons dropped CL, I felt the HUGE difference and MUCH more sporty feel. Get a drop or ride in a dripped CL before you jump on something else. You will change your mind.
BTW, you talk about practicly no aftermarket parts yet the only things you do buy are stock wheels and tons of paint... You don't even have the money (no offense, neither do I...) to get aftermarket parts even if you did have a car that had alot of aftermarket parts available. Just get some wheels you really like, a nice drop, and sway bars.

for the price it is a pretty good car.
I do not see a uniqueness factor, not around here atleast.
Unique to me is not seeing the same car as you for months on the road, My Cadillac Catera was rare, i think in the 1.5 years i owned it, i saw maybe 3-4 others in my city.... that sir...is rare
People ask me what it is sometimes tho, but because i have the whole trunk shaved
coils do make me like the car a little more, just cuz i am slammed which makes it look/handle better, i don't feel bad having my car around my friends expensive cars now cuz it's wayy lower than theirs.
do what you want tho, i'm not in my CL cuz i love it, i never really have, it's more of a practical car for me, pretty cheap to maintain, reliable, good on gas, and something i learnt standard on... in a few years i will move on to something bigger and better
good luck with your decision

if you're looking for a fun car with cheap mods and a plethora of replacement parts then you should know not to look at the CL. if you're looking for something exciting and what not then you should've bought a teg or a civic or something.

plain and simple..the CL isnt overdone just yet....which is probabli why most of us keep spending money into them..
ive had mine a year and spent over a G into it..
maybe i shudve sold it..but id rather be one of the few around here with a CL than any other car that is just..lets say "too popular",,
plus they look siccc slammed, and in white.
cant wait to post my pics up..nuthin great but "i love my CL"

if mine had a manual transmission i'd like it better than my 93 accord sedan. that's my only complaint really, i can't drive/corner it as fast with the autocraptic. they've both eaten up about 10g's of of my pocket and oddly the mileage is about the same. CL V6 takes reg the accord takes premium, so it's about the same to my wallet.
although my next car will be a subaru :o

im ok with the way the CL handles, even if it is slightly boatish for me. What bothers me is the fact that there is NO such thing as tq below 3k rpm and unless you gun it through first and practically powershift into 2nd, the prius in the lane next to you is going to whoop you off the line.
2.3= 2.slow, and i feel like were both looking for a little more 2.go
(heres the part where everyone suggests Swapping engines etc.)
I, much like Gnate, do not have much money to toss into a car on a whim, especially not at the current age/financial situation. if the F series had the aftermarket support of the B or H, even the K wed be set, but honda decided to put an obscure engine in a heavy ass car.

the only other funds I'm dropping into my CL is going to be the money to get the stock muffler put back on and an inspection sticker. Oh i'll have to buy an o2 sim if anyone would ship to MA, because apparently they are illegal here, and my stupid ass ECU thinks my high flow cat isn't working properly.

GPS! You'll bearly have to make u-turns since its harder to miss turns.

if u don't like it, sell it. simple as that. it isn't a car for every1, people have different tastes. I personally have no qualms whatsoever about every last penny i've spent on my cl. it went from where your car is to a fun to drive, relatively quick and comfortable car that's been able to perform with a lot of the cars on the street i've encountered. I was fortunate enough to save enough for what I wanted for the car in pursuit of uniqueness. I don't want a car that I see 20 of everytime i'm on the road, and the CL does it for me. The interior is actually pretty nice, i've gotten many compliments on it from people who've ridden in my car. so for me, my CL will always be in my possesion unless some severe circumstances occur. ur car is still stock, high off the ground, and slow. u either gotta spend the money to get it where u want or sell it n find something that's more appealing. I chose option a, sounds like ur leaning to b. so put a for sale sign on it and start shopping.

ya, but as I've said before dropping a car isn't going to affect the steering play or whatever. the u-turns are ridiculous.
