I feel like a cheater

The best thing about my car is it's never ending style and looks. I have had friends that I haven't seen in a while ask me "Did you get a new car?" I tell them it's 12 years old with 188K on it and they shit and call me a liar. I'll keep her forever, her nickname is "Sweetlady" All the guys I work with make fun of me for it, they can keep their Chevy's! My 5 year old daughter loves my car and that's all that matters. She asked me if she could have it when she starts driving, made me smile.

I guess I'm easy to please or what not, but I honestly feel the CL is the nicest car I owned and as I've mentioned before, I've driven damn near every car imaginable. If I were to complain about one thing, it would turning radius, but my old accord had the same problem, I can deal with it, the car's positive attributes more than make up for its short comings.
If I were to compare the CL to my 91 accord coupe, I like the CL's luxury elements, the handling(both cars were/are lowered), mid range power of the 3.0 and styling. Other than that, it has all the positives that the accord had.
I actually can't think of anything that was better on the accord. I don't even want to start listing what makes the CL better than my old camry, it's easier to list what the camry had better than the CL, two things mpg and how inconspicuous it was. That's it!
btw, mines named Felix

and idk.. for me its harder to justify a weak 2.3 after owning an e39.. now THAT car was my all time favorite. perfect power amazing handling; id still own it today f the expansion tank hadnt blown and fried the block and warped the head :/

I don't consider the car a guy, just happens to be named after a male cat... but it's a chick. It's like a girl being named tony, sam,...etc.
My Accord was also named Felix. it just felt right. It's also hard to name your car when you're married, you can imagine what the wife would be saying if you named youre car after a girl.
I feel like everyones favorite car is relative. If you owned a S500 and than the CL, than yeah the CL wasn't your favorite, or in your case an e39. All I want in life is to own an M5 at some point, I don't care what year, just want a nice BMW at some point. As far as compared to what I HAVE owned, the CL is the nicest. I've had a Regal, 300D, Accord EX, Camry LE and an Outback.

2000 sienna, 1989 mr2sc, 1993 audi cs90, 1996 maxima, 1999 durango, 1999 528i, 1998 CL for me.
my audi was a cool little car, but it leaked like a siv. i loved my MR2 to death, by far the best performing car ive owned.. but wayyyyy too small for a daily driver. id need to have a beater to own a car like that, s2k, z3 etc
The e39 m5 IMO is one of the most timeless cars.

I agree with you on the e39. What should you do? that I dont know. You can always just check out cars and if you find one that you fall in love with, put a deposit down and sell the CL. As the CL is economical, reliable, Japanese, sexy, and in high demand right now, you could get rid of it within a few days if you advertised right.

nate should just get an accord wagon and anhedonia should've gotten another e39 and all these threads about keeping or selling a cl on a site for cl enthusiasts wouldn't be on here.
#52
you make it seem like i dont give a shit about my CL. infact youve been slightly edgy about getting me off the site from the get go, i know blackack and porbably dicorp are as well. Im not trying to start any arguments here, i know how i have a tendency to get threads locked.
but you should know...at the end of the day, i care about whatever car i own, and i wouldnt have bought my CL if i didnt like it. its a car that requires a great deal of time and money to make a fun DD. Time, i have. money not so much. If anything the only two reasons id like to get rid of my CL is for something roomier and that doesnt yeild as much attention. i love my car for that, its a real eye catcher, even if it is 4x4 status. im in no rush to get rid of it.

ehh i think its that along with the fact that its a dark coupe, my subs most certainly dont help; but in a region where everyone drives a lifted truck or SUV, it sticks out to say the least.

How did you go through so many damn cars?
I've only had two. And I only got new car because my old one was a POS. No accidents are anything like that.

Since this thread is no up for discussion I would like to make a discussion that would save us a lot of threads. (Wouldn't have helped us in this matter because, well, you know how I am.)
I think there shouldbe a "quick Q&A thread"
where instead of posting a thread about every small question, people just post in there, any off topic discussion would be deleted, and once someone answers the question properly and it is confirmed, no more posts until the next question.
Sound good?

Shit like my oil leak stop thread etc.
Search is good and all but when you come across things that are like 4-5 years old it would be nice to know if opinions or products have changed since then etc.
It could even be a sticky and when anyone sees it's bold they'll know there is a new question and or a new answer.

+1 on the thread idea, I've done that on another site and it worked out great. it's now 120,000 views and 3300 replies.
It's good because it gives people a place to post where otherwise they wouldn't due to the way we(myself included) become biased against someone for not searching first, Searching sometimes really leaves you with a few questions still.
Hell, you could even just clean it up once and a while to keep it manageable. With the thread I set up on the other site, it has gotten out of control(no moderators) a bit, but if people simply search the thread, they can include the post # to make find answers for people quicker and with less effort.

I'm all for the idea as long as it doesn't need "cleaned up" all the time, and it doesn't become the hay guys off topic thread, if it stays questions, I will create one and give it my blessing, just wonder how long before it spirals out of control

never been in an accident, ive just bought and sold for profit a bunch of times, brother totaled my durango, now owns my maxima things like that.

Baby CLohie is my first and only.
She's always been there for me and haven't had any bad problems. I her!
In 10 years it shall be known..."For Chris created and blessed this section and saw that it was good."
That Q&A section sounds dope! It should help clean up the main first gen section rather than needing cleaning up.

really late on this one... I sold my cl for a better built stick version, I would do the same if you are wanting something a little more nimble and hole lot more power and possibilities. I agree with the t&a thingy. wish I could post tl shit in here I miss U guys

you watch your mouth, the 97-98 ones were absolute shit, but i had a 2000, where they improved most of the catastrophic problems.
I really loved that car tho, was better than the cl is all ways except engine reliability and gas mileage IMO.
i should have bought another but i decided to go a more sensible route.
but the cl has had it's share of problems, and mostly small ones, ones that annoy the crap out of me, like blower motor, window regulator, oil leak, weatherstripping stopping the windows going down and up and RUST, i hate rust...
I'm just using the CL untill i can afford my next real luxury car, prolly need somewhere in the area of 25k, so it'll take me a little while to save up.
Nate, if you're gonna get rid of the CL, what are you planning to get next?

as other auto manufacturers do their fender liners a little differently or something, cuz i don't see any other cars besides hondas rusting that bad in the exact same quarter panel area everytime, and they don't seem to rust anywhere else
this is the reason i am looking forward to leaving the honda/acura family.
Nate, i think the resale value on them is pretty good, or atleast it is here, i think enough people know that they're pretty reliable as far as the engines go.
But i'm glad that your setting some goals out as far as getting another car, and going for them. Any money into these cars basically will be lost when you go to resell, unless you keep the stocks and part-it out later
