How Often do You do an Oil Change?
The Acura service manual says 7500 miles with regular oil. I live in Southern California where the weather is pretty nice most of the time and do mostly freeway driving. I use Castrol Syntec and I do an oil change every 5000-7000 miles. BMWs use synthetic and they recommend every 12,000 miles I think. Same with Porsche.

every 3,000 to 4,000. But I try to do it at 3,000. I run my car way too hard to be having to wait anymore than 4,000 miles. Itz only been 3500 since my last, and my oil is almost black. I use Royal Purple too.
I aim for 3k but usualy remember at about 5... My mom's new mini goes 10 between synthetic oil changes, and I'm just not comfortable with that.
On all of my cars except my acura I run synthetic oil and usualy hit 4 or 5 k mile intervals, and they are all over 30 years old. My acura I just Bring to Jiffy Lube and wait for 20 minutes.

I think it really depends on your location and driving habits. I can see if you lived in a dusty or muddy area or push your car hard everyday, 3000 miles is a must. But if you are using synthetic oil, I'm pretty sure you can do longer intervals. To find out for sure, you can do an engine oil analysis.
Remember that Acura recommends 7500K intervals....with REGULAR OIL. If I was using regular oil, I'd do 3000 miles. But synthetic, 5000-7000 no prob. Synthetic is a lot more durable than regular. In fact, it would last longer if you had a better oil filter. Potentially up to 25,000 miles according to Amsoil. But unfortunately, we are stuck with these really short oil filters that Honda gave us. Look at this link and scroll down near the end where it says service life:

Yes Amsoil is the way to go. I still try to go every 3-4k just because it makes me feel safer. If you leave it in longer than that, the only thing you have to do is check the level every now and again because it can get low
4-5K using el cheapo econo lube oil n filter
and it's true about the oil companies wanting you to change at 3K miles, why would they tell you to wait lobger? to SAVE you money? psssht!
oil analyses have been done over and over and over.
typically, on a normal car, 5500-7000 miles is good, with 4-5K miles for cheap brands.
for higher mileage cars, i remember them saying something about youre supposed to wean your car off dino oil onto mobil 1 by mixing until you go full synthetic, then youre good for 7500 miles even if you push it hard alot.
some independent tests also proved that with synthetic, you dont have to change the oil every time, just change the filter, as long as its a really good one.
