How Do You Remove Those Damn Plastic Clips?
How Do You Remove Those Damn Plastic Clips?
Ok, so I finally get my lazy ass to remove that damn resonator box, my question is; how do you remove those damn plastic clips?
I read this thread on how to remove the resonator:
http://www.acura-cl.com/forums/showt...ghlight=rEMOVE
It looked like it would be a bitch, that's why I wasn't so eager to do it. But anyhows, I freakin' tore a new hole where one of those clips was in my lining. Those clips do not want to come out. I was thinking about just cutting them off and buying new clips. Anybody know how much they are or a good place to get them?
Stupid Honda......freakin' engineering resonator box that sucks up hot air AND is helluva hard to remove.

they hold fine. the little plastic "teeth" go backwards like the barb on a fish hook. if you get some close to the size of the clips they should lock in just fine. i broke about half of mine when i installed my CAI. i tried to link an image, but the site had linking disabled.
First, pry out the center of the clip. Each clip is actually 2 pieces. There's an outer shell and an inner "barrel". Look for the small indentation on the top of each clip. Then fit a small flathead screw driver in the slot to pry out the "barrel". It shouldn't come the whole way out, but enough to graps the shell and pull the whole clip out.
When you put the clips back in, make sure the "barrel" is pulled out about 1/8", then press the clip back into it's hole. Make sure the "barrel" is then pressed the whole way in. Also, make sure that the piece that fits into the hole hasn't spread out like a fan.
I destroyed several of these trying to figure them out.

Another, question. Any tips to remove that resonator? I read that thread on how to do it, but wiggling that thing off after removing just that one bolt didn't seem to work. Is there some kind of special trick or something? Any other method?
I can't seem to "rip" this thing off. It's pissing me off. I was also hoping to remove that upper tube from the resonator from the engine bay to make it easier, but that thing is shaped too wierd. It pisses me off that Honda engineered such a sucky resonator box (it's super restrictive and sucks hot air from the engine bay) and made it so hard to remove.
