take off the rubber piece that's on the trim, then unscrew the stock shift knob, put the boot over the knob, and use something like a credit card to mash it under the trim around the edges.
voila!

note: that if you want to put a boot on the autos you will need a bigger boot since you have to move it up and down rather a stick you move shifts side by side so you will need about 2 inches extra according to the apolestry guy here in town cause i am supposed to get one made. heres a pic of a boot on an auto

this is not mine but you cansee the extra material you need to use a boot on the auto since you need to move it back and forth, i would assume the more material the bettter but then not too much so its "bunchy". these pics are a perfect example of what the shift boot looks like.

YEP!! hes right...thats what i did!!! be careful though...i had to rip out that rubber ring thingy about the shifter...but use a credit card...it takes a while to make it just right but it looks good when its finished...

CHECK OUT MINE!!!....go to my WWW and theres 2 picts of it...their like the 2nd to last on the 2nd page....the cool thing about mine is the shifter dosnt have a button, u just press down on it so it acutally really looks like a manual cuz theres no button on the top of side that u have to press in to shift...ya just push it down!! hehe

The boots cool, but the shift knob on 97Acura3.0CL's picture is awesome. Can you tell me where to get one? Also, Dustbuster, whats the picture next to your name, it looks like a Concept CL. Where can I see a bigger pic?

It's the CLX (an Acura concept car from which our 1st Gen was influenced).

Acura3.0CL: Many thanks!

Regarding that Chrome shiftknob....
keep in mind that it will stand much taller than
the stock shifters.

Also, some of those shiftknobs do not offer an
overdrive button.

Alot of the nissan altima (first gen) guys used to
hook that up. But it always looked oversized compared
to the stock shiftknobs.

Also, how closely does the wood trim match our OEM?

ok ok..

you don't need to break that ring around the shifter man.. check out my sig and look at my boot.... it's a type R boot and all you have to do is take of the cup holder and unscrew all the screws that's underneath the cup holder and you should be able to lift the plastic cover of the shifter.. use something like a credit card or whatever to push the boot inside.. that's it..
