asking for a paint job isn't a dick move at all.
like someone said, if it wasn't for cameras, she would have never came forward.
if you get the QP done, big chance they wont colour match perfectly. been there. thats why my CL got the boot, body shop fucked it up.

Luckily, they did a fantastic job. I really couldn't have been happier with the way the color turned out...there may be a 1% chance that paint matches, but I'm that 1 in a hundred.

It was a dick move on his part similar to what you're trying to pull.

He's asking to take care of it without involving insurance because he doesnt want his rates to get JACKED UP for 3 years over a claim. I get that you want the job to be done right, but the insurance company isn't going to pay to have your whole car painted, and if this guy has half a brain, he isn't either. Whether he pays or the insurance does, if you're planning on getting it fixed by one of the best body shops around, I'm sure they'll be more than willing to give you a satisfaction guarantee.

Society is completely fucked up with people pulling shit like what you're doin to this guy. So his daughter scraped your car, and you're SO GENEROUS "cutting him a break by dropping charges" then at the same time trying to get extra cash out of him? I'm pretty sure this could be called extortion.
I believe it's your right as the owner of the vehicle that pays the hefty insurance premiums we get railed in the ass with every month, to ask for a satisfactory repair of your vehicle. In my experience, people that wanna skip insurance want to screw you over.

your sisters story is also very touching, yet a 1000$ is about right what you'd pay for a new/painted bumber. Be thankful it wasn't a Mercedes or BMW. People need to pay more attention at lights anyways.

I do have full coverage, and it was a pretty risky move not reporting, but it turned out decent. No one got hurt, she hopefully learned her lesson, and I lucked out with a great paint job on that side. Now I just need the other side to be cleared of scratches, ha. And she was hit with a pretty hefty ticket, but it's my decision on pressing charges...and I'm much more of a forgive and forget person (maybe unfortunately, haha).
