HID kit question..

For all you guys out there that bought HID kits, did you guys have to make any adjustments or did everything point correctly? And I'm not talking about the d2s/d2r people. I'm asking about the people who bought those 9006 Hid kits. Did it shine everywhere? or did the beams come out correctly?

when i had the 9006 it turned out pretty well

they design the bulb to have the maximum output for your reflector. the 9006 HID kit is designed to fit in any 9006 housing the best that it can.

It's brighter than stock and halogens, but definitely not to par with d2s projector setups.

Yeah i know D2R means reflector. Thats what I have is D2R but it shines in every which way. So I'm just wondering about the people who have the 9006 kit and if it beams perfectly.

Basically, the 9006 plug and play kit is focused correctly in the housing. Some people have put the d2r's in stock housings and made them work. I have a 9006 kit with 4500k bulbs. I pulled side by side next to an a6 the other night and our light output was basically the same. Width of output, color, brightness. The only thing I was missing is a clean cutoff from the projector. It also helps to do black housings with any hid into the reflector setup to reduce excess reflection. I noticed that after I did my black housings, the light became more focused, and brighter.

10000k light output sucks. You want to stick around 45-5000k. If you want it just to be blue tho, run that.

nah.. if i were u.. i would not get that McCulloch brand.. those balllasts dont last more than a year.. ** about the warrenty part.. eh.. i heard they went out of business or something.. the company no longer exist** go to hidforum.com and do a search on them.. a friend of mine also got the same brand.. and it only lasted him 5 months before the balllast burnt out on him.. good luck on that..

krazay.. its all good.. my boy's HID was looking really really nice till it was burnt.. but as long u dont turn on and off more than 3 times in 10 mins.. u should be fine.. (I think thats what he did...) in other word.. when u just turned off ur HID.. at least wait for like 20 mins+ for them to cool down then u turn'em back on.. it'll last ur ballast and bullb life longer.

I'm not sure how warm they should get.. but shouldnt be tooo hot enough it melts ur housing and plastic lens cover. Good luck w'em!

97black22 i though you already had a set of ballasts and d2s bulbs? just modify the bulbs to allow them to fit further inside so that the focal point matches up with the 9006 reflector. messin around with a set of bulbs worth $60 is much better then buying a kit.
