HID Check Up

Alright guys who here has HID's? I just wanna see how the aftermarket kits are holding up over time...Please post What Kit you have, How long you've had them, how often you use them, and if any problems sooo far.

I have Eurolite 8000k Hid kit for about a year but I am very paranoid about them
Like I try not to drive at night that much except for the weekends because I dont want to replace them and I like them alot. Its weird like I want to conserve them...

Xenondepot 4300k kit, uses genuine phillips bulbs and ballasts............don't be afraid to use them, xenon bulbs should last longer then halogens. just don't flash them at people, turning on and off a ballast is bad for it.

Take it back to the place that installed your alarm and have them wire it so that the headlights do not flash. They can do it

haha this is funny my hella ballast just blew. Not sure what kind of kit but rebased phillips bulbs and hells ballasts. My one ballast was laying on the bottom of the engine campartment and after opening it up it looks to be water damage, it does work sometimes though. I have had it two or so years and im looking for a new ballast now I hooked up a BMW ballast but it will not ignite the bulb just flicker, any ideas?

yeah they do warn you at your own risk but then i took it out of the car where it wasn't hook up to any power supply and hook up the bulbs so I wont get and direct current from da connectors, also turn out the silcon sealant in the ballast came apart so it started to leak in water

I took mine apart as well, just make sure it is unplugged. As for resealing it super well, buy some plastic coat and dip the ballast in that with the wires attached, just make sure to cover the vent with something so it doesn't get coated as well (the vent is the little round thing between the wire connections) I had the water issue with my ballasts and had to buy a new one but this should make the problem disappear, well assuming you fixed the ballast

i had a mcculloch 7300k kit, but the ballasts blew on them. so now i got a 6500k kit from xenon depot. the mcculloch kit worked great for a year or so, till the ballasts blew, and they're out of business now, so you're out of luck if they fuck up.
