Heavy vibration at idle

Heavy vibration at idle

Recently i have been having heavy vibration at idle, not just the normal 4 cyl slight vibration. This vibrates enought to make the whole gauge cluster shake up and down.

Any idea what this could be, It occurs at 800 rpm for the first 5-10 minutes of driving, when the car is fully warmed up and idleing at 650-700 it doesnt do it.

usually motor mounts causes bad vibration like that.

Is there any fluctuation in rpm's? If so, it good need a valve adjustment and/or tune-up. If not, a heavy vibration is usually caused by bad motor mounts.

Both are more likely if you have high milage >80K.

IT HAPPENED TO ME TOOO!!! actually it stilll is....i took it to AUTOZONE TODAI! haha yes TODAI....to see wut wuz the problem wuz but they said they dont do that detail check...but then the guy came out side and checked out my car.....he seemed like he knew wut he wuz talking about...i thought it wuz my transmissiojn da whole time cuz i juss got it rebuilt and after the rebuilt dis started to happen but he said ur air filter in ur INTAKE is dirty ass hell plus u need to hceck and change spark plugs/spark plugs wire/ fuel filter/ get ur shit cleaned out by machine dunno wut it wuz llol i dont remember/ and dis wire in deep inside forgot wut itz called but he pointed to me so i know wut it is...he said those probably will fix the idling problem....cuz when im at D mah RPM dropped to like 0 ,...inm fockin seriouse....itz shaking mah car like krazeee and itz ok when i put it to N or Park......he said that has nutting to do with transmission but those might be it...and he said to change all that shit....he said it proably cost me like 150-200$ cuz i want the K&E air filter =D haha....n all da other shitz...

it sounds like spark plugs and/or air filter. on a 4 cylinder if one cylinder misfires the engine acts as if it wants to shutoff the minute you drop it in drive or reverse. it also takes a longer time to crank over in cold conditions. i'd replace the plugs (if haven't done so already) with bosch plat+4 or ngk iridium ix#zfr5fix11. they nice on honda/acura engines and have a very noticeable power increase especially on the 2.x engines.

check plugs as you pull them to make sure that they aren't wet if any are you may have another problem on your hands.

Plugs were replaced with platinum tip boschs 10k ago, filter is k&n that was cleaned at the same time.

But i will pull the plugs this weekend.

Those plugs will work fine providing they're matched for your car. I had Denso platinums in mine, had people fight me to the death saying that only OEM plugs will run ok. Swapped them out with the OEM plugs and there was ZERO difference in the way the engine ran. I would test the front and rear motor mounts to see if they hold vaccuum. A broken mount can cause all types of vibration and droning. You can also visually inspect the passenger side mount too.
