Headers

ok ok I know comptech makes headers for our car (97 3.0) But 1,000 + dollars is not exactly pheasable (sp) for a 17 year old highschool kid who is trying to slowly progess his car. So who else makes headers? Does chikari or DC sports??

well i think the only company to make headers for the 3.0 is comptech but i am not positive. if u had a 2.2/2.3 then u would have more options since 94-97 accords headers will fit.

Right now, Comptech is the only retail seller of headers for the 3.0. Word is, there's another company (Greedy, I think) that's going to offer headers in the near future.

It's not that easy...if you were to get everything custom you are probably looking towards more than 1000. Anyways, the comptech ones for the 3.0 have been dyno'd for something like 25-30hp.

ummm.... NO!

you gain 25-30 HP at the crank if you are a CL-Type-S...
the 3.0 Cl gains 15-18 at the crank.... that translates to about 10 hp...

you only feel the headers power at v-tec... from 4000 rpm my car takes off.. but its still sluggish off the line as if it were stock!

As for TORQUE... probably about the same as HP... you may want to ask Comptech direct.

Did it quote:
1) "18 hp gain" or
2) "18 hp gain at the wheels"?!

theres a big difference btwn the 2... #1 means at the crank.. not the wheels... I believe their dyno tests say at the crank!

I would like to see that in writing....

besides, what other mods does he have done??? CAI and Exhaust will boost his numbers from headers... lets talk the HEADERS alone!!!

No one would do headers as a first mod. Atleast not logically.

Here's the "writing" part you wanted. He has his dyno sheet somewhere, but I can't find it.

I did my headers prior to an exhaust because i was waiting for APEX to release their cat-back... now i just need $$$$ .. but when giving dyno numbers, comptech does not sit there and tell you what the numbers are with other mods... they give you that individual parts production and a sum of all other parts with it!
