i think the hand mvt is definitely the only difference. Wouldnt shortening the distance between the fulcrum and lower ball limit the ability of the shifter to actually engage the gears completely in the tranny?

Dicorp is right.

Here's an article to back it up.

ahh so i'm not the only one working on a b18b1 on a friends car huh? The damn thing wouldn't start cuz it had 5 bent valves and the timing was off, so we ripped the head off, changed the valves, changed the headgasket and timed it correctly and now she runs great, just need to adjust the idle a bit.

wtf is a b18b1? Integra LS engine? why not just build a B18C GSR?

yeah its an LS motor. GSR motor = lots more money and my friend is a college student on a budget, and thats the motor that came in the EF civic he bought so thats what we're working wit. Its a good motor for boost too, its like 9.8:1 compression or something, and he could also go LS-VTEC if he wanted.

i wouldnt call someone who roots for their home city's team a frontrunner. especially since the eagles have never won a superbowl.

i would rather have the cowboys beat the giants. i hate philly sports, there fans all come out of the closet when there team actually succeeds and trash them when they dont. trust me i deal with alot of philly fans that are from south jersey.

now i gotta route for your team chris, the real team in pennslyvannia, with real loyal fans.

believe me, we have tons of fairweather fans too, ever since they won the SB in 05, the fan base has increased at a disgusting rate, believe me, no one gave a damn about the steelers or penguins, until all the sudden they got good, just the way it is

i suggest spray canning them. ive been down that road. yeah it turns out nice, but its really not worth the 200 bucks for stock rims.... if i had a nicer wheel, then definately powdercoat.

but its up to you and if u powdercoat then awesome. its real nice!

well i gues im wrong. but can someone clarify for me?

"Well, in addition to the actual stick being slightly shorter, the entire shifter is straighter, and the angle has been reduced, and the position of the bolt has been changed, meaning that the balance is now altered, and the distance between the gears has been reduced in the simplest way possible. "

so an aftermarket shifter actually shortens the distance between gears at the base?

Just because we boo our teams when they do bad doesn't mean we're not loyal. Believe me, some philly fans would die for the eagles.

But i gotta say, ever since the giants won the superbowl, i've met an increasing number of giants fans, even down here in virginia.

Think of it this way:

Imagine a triangle if you would upside down. Now imagine moving your hand from one end to another at the top (remember it's upside down).

Now let's lower your hand to the mid, and go from one side to another. The distance is greatly shorter is it not.

When they say they shorten the distance between the gears, they are simply stating the distance your hand will be moving from gear to gear that has to travel.

Hope that helps.

Those stockies look sick in black Nate, and good luck with the powdercoating. I may be looking into doing the same but with the stock 6-spokes that i have, i guess i'll try and look for some pics or something...

yeah i understand the concept that a shorter stick will make your hand have to go less distance.

i was just mistakenly told that an actual aftermarket short shifter did something other than just shorten the height.

hey i already ed myself, you didn't need to do it like 20 times and those wheels look ugly on cl's so that's why it didn't grab my attention, the only car they might look good on are those new civics which they have a pic of

...anyways hopefully no one buys those wheels for a cl, such a waste of soo much money IMO, but to each their own, and ppl have so many different tastes when it comes to wheels
