They were booked till May, but I was lucky to get in for the 10th of March to have a 6 point roll bar installed. He mentioned the more points I went with, the more weight I was going to add back into the car. This alone is about 100 lbs, so I can't see myself putting in any more weight. It just kills me inside. But, now that this is going on, I no longer need my door windows as nets will replace them. When I remove them, I'll weigh them and let you guys know how much they weigh. Hopefully it's enough to offset the weight of the roll bar. If not, then I'll ask how much for plexi glass as they do that as well. I hate weight!
I have been debating for 2 months as to what I was going to do first. It came down to this, as I'm not 100% sure if just new head gaskets will fix my compression problem. If it does, I will be jumping for joy knowing I don't have to have the short block taken apart to replace the piston rings. If it doesn't, then I'll be happy I didn't send my heads off to FL for a custom valve train and head work. All of which will happen in time, now that I have a shop to do that as well. These were the the things that sat in my mind for awhile, and have kept me from taking the next step. I ordered the gaskets last week, but haven't received them. Hopefully that'll do the job for now, untill I have this engine built.

Nice Chris, how much the gaskets run you? I'm intereseted to see how much u loose with the windows, I'd imagine those plus the regulators would be a deccent amount of weight to offset the cage

He got the bumper for like $100. He got into an accident at his last track event 2 months ago. So he just went with it cause of the price. It's not something he likes. He's going with the Evo 9 bumper again in the future.
I raced him back when he was around 300whp, and beat him. When I visited him over the summer with the car, he's car was at the shop for another track accident (got rear ended). At that time he was at 347whp. He is now at 417whp, and we have yet to race since he was in the 300whp range.
At the 300whp range, we were neck to neck with me pulling slightly by a bumper at times. On the bottle, I'd give him a car length, and pull him in, in that same gear.

He enjoys the whole idea of having a track car you can drive everyday on the streets. So he still has all his interior, A/C, power steering and all. I keep trying to convince him to just build an all out track car.
If I ever get a pic of my friend's Max's track Evo, you guys would drool. Literally around $50,000 into it (all top name brands only). His weight reduction makes mine look silly. He built his own custom wiring harness to shed weight from the extra wiring that wasn't needed in the car/engine bay. And by far, the best driver out of our group. He was competing at a professional level 2 years back. But his car has been down ever since. It's been a long project for him as well.

Hey cocoa how light did you get your car? and what was the numbers of your last dyno I am to lazy to search for them. Also how do front wheel drive cars fare on the tracks when they have big horsepower numbers compared to the awd and rwd cars. I am talking road courses not that silly drag racing shinanagins

For road racing, anything over 300whp in a FWD is hard to tune suspension wise. This is also determined by the weight of the car. In JTCC and other FWD competitions, you usually won't find anyone with over 290whp. But these are on cars lighter than ours.
My last dyno was a shitty 230whp with blown head gaskets. And on the bottle, it was 317whp with 377 torque, again with blown head gaskets. I should be around 250whp without the bottle, and close to 350whp on the bottle. I'll redyno once I fix my compression leak in cyliner 3,4,5, and 6.
Honestly, I love the way this car handles. The weight reduction helped a great deed. As far as how much it weighs, I have no idea. But my rough estimation is that I lost a little over 200 lbs. Making this easily in the 3000lb or under range.

dang man I cant believe that your car would still weigh 3000lbs when it is stripped as much as it it. I was looking into building and boosting my engine f22 to get around 350whp but I think it might be a waste if the car still weighs that much. I am also looking into 91 mr2's or 86 corolla's. I dont know what I want to do yet. on one hand I would love to have a car with 350whp but on the other hand I want something that is light that will rip it up on the road courses(also rwd). ahh the decisions

I estimated the worst case scenario. But honestly, I can see it be around 2900lbs. But that's why I said 3000lbs or under. 3000lbs being the worst case scenario.
Stock driver seat was 75 lbs.
Passenger seat was 55lbs.
Tar alone was 25 lbs.
Carpet weighed in at around 10-15lbs?
All panels about 15lbs ?
stock speakers maybe like 3-5lbs.
Power steering pump/lines/pulley around 10lbs
A/C compressor/lines/pulley around 10-15lbs
that crap on the firewall was around 7-10lbs
back seats and what not around 5 lbs
spare tire/jack/tools around 25lbs
moonroof was around 50 lbs (didn't weigh it)
This alone is roughly 300 lbs putting me at 2915 lbs. My list is longer, but just small stuff, that eventually add up (also took out the horn, airbags, some wiring, windshield wiper resevour and lines, a/c vents, a/c condensor, head liner, heater core, heater hoses, A/C evaporator, etc...). Also, going from auto to manual saves weight, but it's possible the difference in engine weight offsets that gain. I use to have a list somewhere, but I don't know where it's at. It's absolutely possible for me to be in the high 2800lb range. But for me to get actual numbers, I'd have to get it weighed.
