Has this every happened to anyone?

Just the other day I was drivin and all of a sudden I see my brake light on. Now I know the lever is all the way down so the e-brake is not engaged.
Does anyone know if there is a common electrical problem that I don't know about?

if u didnt have the e-brake fully down the light will come on and usually stay on until u turn off the car. the abs light usually comes on also. if u know its not ur e brake go check the fluid it may be low, or the cap may be loose. there is a sensor on it

Maybe the emergency brake did not fully release after using it? Even though the handle is down it may still be partially engaged.

The sensor that triggers the dash light malfunctioning?

honeslty I haven't. I'll check later today though. I'm kinda hoping that's the reason. Figure a couple of bucks for a light compared to I don't know how much for an electrical fix.

I am not sure about break light coming on when your bulbs are out but I thought that your turn signal flickered faster when any of the bulbs went out you might want to double check but in my integra thats what would would happen (it would click twice as fast). Have not had any bulbs on my CL go out yet so I am not sure.

the problem is the brake fluid resuvoir. the sensors are very sensitive inside. the fluid may be at or just below the full mark and the light will come on, especially when it is cold. just put some fluid in anyways. not much just enough to bring it between the top rim and the max line, and im sure the light will go away.

I have the same problem. The light will come on when I am driving. After awhile, when I press on the brake the light will go off, then when I release the brake, the light comes back on again. It happens more in the winter time. I know I dont have a light out. Seems lots of first gens have this same problem. I can figure mine out!

My light came on b/c my brake fluid was low, and one of the rear calipers was faulty.

I had the same thing too. Fluid sensor was bad. Try adding fluid first - will probably solve the problem.

yea it happens to almost all the 1g's. the sensor is very sensitive. dont over fill it.

the reason why it came on when u had ur foot on the brake is cause the resuvoir drops level when the calipers fill u p with fluid. usually if u got a light on and nothings leaking it means that it is time to change ur brakes. unless it is just below or at the max line.

same thing when winter hits. the fluid is less dense. and it kind of shrinks, making the sensor think its low when its really not. the light usually goes out when the car is warmer cause the fluid expands and makes the sensor think its full again.

There is a picture of the car in instrument panel that shows a solid red bar when the tail lights go out to let you know that. I had a bad sensor in my Master Cylinder cap so it cause the brake light to stay one, then the abs light comes on as well. It's quite annoying. It is either your fluid level or the sensor could be bad.I had this happen before when my rear brake calipers needed to be replaced. They were leaking brake fluid so the light came on. That was an expensive brake job....just a little over $1300!! just my
