Had a wreck last night (pic intensive)
So long story short i'm on my way home from school, i'm in the middle of this intersectio nand turning left. The light turns red, a car turning right (coming the opposite way) stopped, so i started to turn, and this guy in a ford explorer came barreling through the red light and hit me.
I didn't get to duke it out (not literally of course) with the guy, i was rushed to the hospital with lower back pain, which turned out to be nothing thankfully.
When the cop showed up at the hospital to get my statement it all turned even further south, the guy who ran the red light said he was going through a green light and that I tried to speed in front of him, which was total bullshit. The cop got 3 statements from witnesses, one saying it was red when i went through, one saying it was yellow when i went through, and I dont' remember what the third guy said.
Anyways, the cop said he was going to turn it over to a prosecutor who would determine who was at fault. I get the feeling i'm going to get screwed here even though the witnesses more or less back up my story over his obvious lie.
So here are the pics I took when I went to get some personal stuff out of my car.
***Warning, it's not pretty!***
I'm about 100% confident it's going to be totally. My sunroof it popped, my hood is popped, and my trunk is popped. The frame however, is NOT bent which might be my only savior. The airbag appears to be 'partially' deployed which is really bothering me. When the shop looks at it for repairs i'm going to have them look into the airbag and see if it should have deployed since at one point the SRS light was on and I took it to the dealer to get fixed.
I'm also concerned about the $1000+ stero equipment I had installed, you can already see that one of the front speakers and tweeter is fubared.
And everyone involved in the accident is ok, so so matter how mad I am I can atleast be thankful for that

good to hear ur okay, thats the most important part
your car is definite a total loss, i got rear ended and it might be written off.
I never got to see your ride in good pics, but it looks like it was a real nice black cl
hopefully you can get into something just as nice or better. be sure to hustle the insurance company for the stereo equipment. good luck

it looks like the frame is probably bent if everything popped up. definitely totaled. that sucks about the story though, too bad there wasn't cameras there.

Ouch man. Glad to hear you're alright though. Makes me nervous about the SRS light, mine was on and apparently it just needed to be reset, which I already attempted without success. If I ever get in a wreck, that damn thing better deploy.

Was thinkin the same thing Justin, damn.
THAT WRECK WOW, are you ok? That is a horribly ugly wreck, and i'm certain it'll be a total. There's enough damage for them to say screw it. Sorry about your car bro, hope you're OK, that looks as nasty as my last crash that screwed up my spine for life. If you wake up and you're sore or notice anything wrong, go to the doctor or ER right away.
And double ouch for the rollover behind your car

Nothing to get raped in court about. Thanks to everyone who's asking if I'm alright, I am. I still don't have any idea how the citation is going to turn out. The officer who took my statement gave me the feeling that niether of us was going to be cited as the cause, but still no word.
I already started looking at other CLs in the area, most of them are like 10k... which I don't understand because @ 110k miles the car is only valued at 6.5.
And even though it's almost garunteed to be totaled, I'm crossing my fingers and hoping its not. I really fell in love with this CL, more than I would have ever guessed since my dad had to convince me to buy it. When I was in the ambulance on the way to the hospital, all I could think was "Oh god my baby, please be ok" :-/

As far as the car, Get some duct tape and you'll be good.

Lawl! I'll just put duct tape over th bottom part of the door where you can see through it and touch the carpet on the inside of the car
I found a used 2001 3.2 CL TYPE S in the area w/ 90k for 10k. So I think my chances of sticking in the CL family are high.

This thread kind of makes me wonder about this... are CLs considered safe? I mean I know a lot of people have been in fairly minor wrecks in here and have been fine. This is one of the few major wrecks I've seen, but everything seemed to turn out ok for the most part.
Of course, side impacts are not great on pretty much any of the older cars without side airbags.
Glad your doing OK, by the way; these kind of wrecks can be absolutely disastrous to some people.

On the plus side, the officer who took my statement called and said that he didnt have enough information to determine who was at fault, so no one was getting cited for the accident.

LOL! That's good, but THIS is great.
My insurance agent called and said the car was a total loss, and is valued at 7.3k, so that's what my payout is.
I bought the car 2 years ago and since then 've put 30k miles on it. I only paid 6.5k for it.... haha!

I am really looking into a 3.2CL but I am largely turned away by the transmission. If I buy a 3.2 I won't be able to fix the tranny if it goes out, I won't have the money. Anyone have any insite on the 3.2 trannies? from looking at their boards the issue is MUCH more widespread than it was on the 1st gens... It's depressing to know its in my grasp but I'm scared to grab it.

LOL the KBB value was only 6.5k... Allstate (my insurer) goes through a third party who finds the average selling price of the vehicle in your individual area

negotiate with the insurance guy...never take first offer....they have to offer you what the car is worth, plus tax, title, and license fees.... when i totaled my old vigor (not my fault) i got another grand out of the insurance because of that...
