H22 Time!!!! Fla!!

I had this problem where my oil was running into my cooling system due to my head gasket blowing the FRuck up. It cause over heating etc etc etc etc and i was running my engine for quite sometime without any oil in it what soever. So i am using this as an excuse to myself to get the H22 changeover. I found that hondamotorsonline.com has it for $2400 can anyone beat that deal?

FODE where you @?

Also what are the common mods that are needed for the swap? such as:

do all the motor mounts match up? do the headers match? etc.

I live in west palm beach florida and the retartds over here haven't done the swap and are soooo fruckin worried about doing it. so i just want to have a list of things for them to expect. I was going to do this myself but i have no time between school and running a company.

give me your informative words!!!

well so far i am the only person on the forum that has done this swap...i havent seen anyone else with...a lot of peeps talk but that is all..they just talk...
well any ways...
what year is the motor that you are getting..if it is a 95 or older motor & ecu...you will need to get an obd1 to obd2 converter..skunk2 makes a converter...
all the mounts are the same so you dont need to change your mounts...the axles are also the same if you have a 5sp...
you will have to get a header if you dont already have one...the CL header will not work...
you dont have to boy the complete swap from honamotorsonline... you can get the longblock from them for $1100..and buy a ecu some where for about 250...you can use your cl tranny that is what i did...and i ran 14.8 on the 1/4 so it not that bad...that is how you can save yourself some cash..
i am in florida also....actually in tampa if no-one down there doesnt want to do the swap for you my mechanic up here can do it....good luck let us know how it turns out....
here is a pic of my H22 in my cl

Thanx bro that did help. That info helps me because in such short notice my car craps out and i just got finished with a fist full of bills. so that will save me $$$.

So i would have to get a 95 or later h22 and i will be able to keep my mounts, axles, etc since i have 5 speed.

COOOOOOOOOOOOL.

can you give me a skunk2 link for the converter? that would help. also even a link to an ecu. how is the swap holding up for you in the way you did it? have you had any probs? ac works right? i am sure it is a direct swap.

also i wanted to ask. by doing the swap, will the redline point change? and will any electronic shiznit change?

thanx again bro

ok here it is...any H22 will bolt rite up to the cl2.2/2.3...
if you get a 96 or newer motor and ecu you wont need the obd converter from skunk2...you only need the converter if it is an older motor & ecu...
you have to get a header for the h22...you can keep the exhaust you have but you may have to weld in a straight pipe in place of the CAT...
i am not sure if the mortor comes with a header
as far as the redline goes..it will changeif you cahenge the ecu..it will go to 7800 (fuel cut)
my ac and everything works fine in my car...
the swap is holding up really well in the car...i love it ..but it wasnt enough sooo i turboed it again...
ill have some pics of the turbo in a few days..
let me know if you need any other info

Would our tranny hold up with the extra ponies?

How much did your mechanic charge for labor? Tampa is not that far from Atl, so I might try to do this in the next 6 months or so. It would be worth it to drive down there to have this done if the price is right. I check out Mahdavi here and they quote $1100 in labor plus $3000 for the engine:sqnteek:

my mechanic wont charge that much...i cant really say how much he will charge anyone else...he gave me a deal cuz he knows me really well...
the accord/cl tranny is a prelude tranny..it is the prelude S tranny..it is holding up just fine with the turbo too....the only differences between the trannies is that the gears are longer...better suited for forced induction (supercharger, turbo, NOS)

datz tite, i want a h22 so i can have 200 horses stick instead of my auto, is it possible to do a h22a motor swap to my 3.0 v6 cl? i kno i'll need the basics, like manual guage cluster, clutch and clutch cable, etc., was wondering if u guys could give me an estimate on how much EVERYTHING will cost including labor, and if any of u guys could refer me to anyone or any body shop in southern California who can do this for me. heard h23a SI motors from like 94-96 preludes have better gear ratios, and are cheaper than the h22a motors of the 5th gen preludes, well either way, i want stick, and in the long run, this will save me more money than buying a new car, (i hope heh), cuz i love my Cl and i don't want to part w/ it. thx guys in advance.

Not to be super nit picky.... but I remember when u first came on this board, you were boastin that you had a turbo under there and never posted any pictures of it. All we saw the the front of your car. Than I called you out and you got all pissed. I guess I was right. (I would find a link to those posts as proof, but a-cl.com has been through too many server/isp changes that it probably got nuked)

Good luck on the h22a. It's a good motor and ... yea whatever dc says, he has his head on straight.

type r i am insulted! You should think and have proof before saying anything. I have been on this board for 2 years and have never talked the woop. I am straight up bro so please don't ever try to make me look different. You made a mistake and i am not mad but you should be sure before saying things around here because people have been booted for giving fake bad reps. No prob though. i just dont want someone else to get pissed at ya.

I might have been contiplating getting a turbo and asked questions but i would never say that i had one and go through some stupid "i dont have pictures junk".

I started and run 3 businesses and make a good amount of $$$ (not dad's cash). Y would i talk the dirt?

be sure next time! +)

i was wondering if its that "easy" and everything bolts up then a H22a with auto tranny should be easier right?? Should take less than 8 hours? Just un bolt and pull the f23a out and drop the H22a Auto in and evything incl. harnesses should line up?? Just wondering. ANyone knows if the JDM SIR accord engine bolts in also? I think its a f20b.

sir f20b bolts right in also::: same mounting pattern it has 200hp and is a 2.0 however has the same dimensions as the h22a but less displacement resulting in less torque. Not to mention the motor is more money so h22 is better in EVERY way.

I'm wondering the same thing as D-Crew's question. Is it possible or as easy to drop an H22a into a 3.0. Just wondering, considering its 200hp, DOHC, and stick, and there are a load of more mods for it. I see that as an advantage. Does anybody know whether its possible or how hard it would be, or if it would even be worth it?

H22 does not fit into a v6 cl without extensive modification and custom mounts. Don't even think about if I were you. The j30a's mounts are completely different than those of the 4 cylinder h and f series motors. So no it is not worth it. It would be better to sell your 3.0 buy a 2.2 or 2.3, then do the swap with money your get for the higher resale of the v6 over the 4 cylinder CL's.
