h22 swap update
h22 swap update
Alot of guys have been asking me when my swap will be done(dustbuster4, atlcl98, blackoutcl, niedejb etc..). I'll post up whats so everyone can know and in case you plan to do the same you'll have a little heads on what involved in completing an h22 swap, with an h22 thats been built from the ground up.
LOL, now I got the chills.
If it’s been hard for you to wait it’s been even harder for me. It sure has taken forever for this dam swap to take place but so many things have gone wrong. You guys don't even know half the crap I've had to workout. Lets just say it not as easy taken out the old engine and slapping in the new one, especially if you build it up with all aftermarket parts.
I'll list some of the things that have lost me the most amount of time:
1. I order Crower stage 2 cams. 2 weeks later Crower calls me to tell that they ran out of h22 stage 2 cams will no longer make the cams, ever again! Lose 2 weeks and have to order skunk2 stage 2 cams another 2 weeks to receive them. Total time lost 1 month.
2. Machine shop tells me they can't install my SCE copper head gasket to raise the compression. After careful planning we decide to scrap the copper head gasket and raise the compression by using jdm type S pistons (11.1) with crower billet rods. Rods arrive overnight from crower amazingly. JDM type s pistons that were ordered 2 weeks still have not arrived. Hopefully they will get here this week.
3. I order Ceramic coated 4-1 headers from OBX; I end up receiving a 4-1 header for a Civic SI. Get a refund from OBX and the shop that is sponsoring my swap hooks me up with free arospeed 4-2-1 stainless steel headers. Lose a week on the OBX headers but get hooked up in the end. Arospeed is not exactly my first choice in picking a header but if it free I can't complain.
A bunch of other things have eaten huge amounts of time and lately most of my time has been consumed by work. And without work I wouldn't have the $$$ to do all this so I go to work everyday and I can't complain.
Well to wrap this all up I hope to have the pistons and finish the swap by next weekend. I'll post as many pics as many pics as I can, instructions, dyno and 1/4 mile times once the engine is broken in. Thanks so much for all the support!

we've been waiting months and months to see you're the first cl to break the 13 sec mark
i know you've got to be close to having it installed
just imagine picking up your slip and the guy at the booth says"you can't race any more because you need a helmet and a cage"
i just said that out loud and i got the chills

I thought i was having problems with my shit!!!! I just finished mine thursday night!!!!! wooooopi.
Your car looks like mine right now but you know - you didn't have to take your whole dash apart right?
I had this chump over making me think i had to take my dash off but no YOU DON'T.
I used my old harness. Don't get confused with the other harness, just set it aside and don't pay anybody to do that. it is as easy as itching your nuts. if this wasn't my first swap i would of put the motor in and done the wiring in 8 hours.
BY THE WAY: HAVE FUN DRIVING TO THE PIPE SHOP!!!! I had mustangs looking at me like i was fuckin crazy! COPS were grilling my ass....WAAAAAKEEEEEEKE POW BOOOM ERERRRRRRRRRRRR like a fuckin whore.
By the way its FAST! I could only imagine this kids with all that fuckin work.
good luck guys.

well of the bat you will have the engine light on because of the cat but once you get that done you really shouldn't have a problem. Use your old harness and then see how it runs and what else you need to hook up. You will have to rig up the distributor. well actually i got a 2001 USDM prelude motor so i am not to sure if there is a difference. You should really just have a buddy there that has done swaps before just give you some advice.

the distributor wires are different because our motor have an internal coil and the H22 is external. I just had to splice and pull a couple wires. Nothing big, just 2 minutes of wire work. I still haven't completly ran my car so i am not sure if i missed anything. My car is still @ the pipe shop (Fuckin asshole pipe workers). Give me about a week and i will be able to update the situation and figure out everything that is going wrong etc.
