H22 and headers
H22 and headers
Hey Everyone
I'm a new mem, w/ a black 97 2.2
Recently i took off my heat sheild in front of exhaust manifold and realized my haeder/ manifold had a 2 inch crack: could this be why my perform and gas mileage has been offf point? I want to by new headers anyway, so does anyone have any suggestion?
Also, what's up with the prelude H22 engine: is it all that?

h22+CL equals one bad ass car. specially with some mods. go type s killin. anyways yes get new header. dc 4-2-1. $300 + shipping for ceramics. seeing how u have a 2.3 u want to be as light as possible. dont get stainless unless ur going for show or ur slamming ur car to the ground. heres pic of mine.
Hey VXCL thanks for the help: I was thinking of stainless headers, but if they weigh that much, i will go with ceramic. I saw somewhere the powder blue ceramic headers for our car: are they any good?
At work I couldn't access pictures of your car (internet content filtering crap), but I saw them on home server: looks good. I always wondered what my car would look like with different color side skirts and molding. I didn't think it would look good, but I was wrong, it does. Engine work looks good as well.

yo the ss desont weigh like 20lbs more or somethin like that. but every lb off ur car the better.
listen get cc for the following reasons
1. they are lighter
2. they cost less
3. they will last for at least 4 years
4. buy dc 4-2-1 header they are good shit. im tellin u from experience. even though we already have a stock 4-2-1 cast iron header they made a nice difference on my car. low and mid gain.
dont get them if
1. ur going show
2. ur car will be sittin on the ground if cc gets hit they break easy.
also thanx for the comments on my car. makes me feel good. but it still needs lots more work and a h22. aslo kc cl theres no way ur intake and short shifter made up the almost 2 sec diffence in speed between our cl and a stock lude. who ever u say u almost beat cant drive their car or they werent racing. even a auto lude will take us no prob. they got more torque and way more hp and weigh slighlty lighert then us. so unsless u ripped everything out of ur car and took off a couple hundred lbs i dont see how u alomst beat a lude. with my i/h/e/p/venom 400 i can just barely take a stock si which is way slower then a stock lude.

I had always thought that preludes were much faster. I guess it must have bben that the other driver wasn't very good. I had also been thinking of implanting the h22, but didn't know how much good it would do. Thanks for the help. Oh yeah, and do you know if there are anymore engines tht are compatible with our cars? f22b= 2.2L I4 SOHC VTEC 145hp and 147 lbs torque
h22A= 2.2L I4 DOHC VTEC 200hp and 156lbs torque
f23a= 2.3L I4 SOHC VTEC 150hp and 152 lbs torque (never f23s make less cuz of ULEV crap)
h23= 2.3L I4 DOHC no VTEC and 160hp and torque??
j30=3.0L v6 SOHC VTEC 200hp and torque??
all these engines will fot into our car. h22 makes the most hp, but alot of ppl liek the h23 cuz it is much cheaper and can handle alot of boost on stock internals. i know a kid witha h23 cord running 13s. its either got a turbo or NOS cant remember. oh yeah kc cl most ppl cant drive a stock lude like the peeps at motor trend so chances are with a modded cl u can play with them and make them feel like they dont really got a fast car or if they really just suck make them feel sorry for losing. i have been spanked by ludes and gsrs but most of the time it isnt liek that.
