Gutted !!!

well, i just took my all but one car seat out The dam seat weighs a TON. AT least 40 pounds ( pass ) I bought momos ( carbon fiber ones ) so im getting ready to take the tar out of the car ( hard rubber looking shit undernieth the carpet ) and prepping it for paint ( metalic charcaol with metal flake ) for the trims and chassis. Heres some pics of the MOMos i bought. So far, ive taken out 134.5 pounds excluding the drivers seat and tar ( Tar weighs 75 pounds exactly ) so im looking at about roughly 240 total adding these 16 pound racing seats.. bringing the cars NET weight WITH me in it to 2760 pounds with taking spare out !! so the car itself weighs about 2645 pounds !!! thats a 361 pound weight loss. Can you say "jenny greg" all the while, keeping my interior PIMP

Funny you mention that. There is a guy down here with a Blue CL-P. I stayed up the whole night taking fucking tar out of the car and all kinds of crazy shit..i also took the spare out ( FUCK IT THATS what AAA is for and fixaflat foam ) anyways, around 7:30 i saw this dude heading tward Houston, and i egged him on and he went for it before i had a chance to get on it..BUT i still took em down to 100 See, what happens is with 300 + pounds out of the car, my whole car changes in terms of power to weight. I weigh as much as a 03 corrola but alot more power and tq. With this weight gone, the cars needle just keeps climbing faster and faster even in higher gear. My clutch, at this point, is killing me though, i cant break 2nd loose anymore because when i shift, the car just slips a tad and it pisses me off. But on a roll its fine. I have alot of interior cleaning and painting to do now so ill post pics later on..i got all that tar and hard ceramic lookin shit out but it left my int all dusy with debri from me wiring it off with my drill.

ayougo, an old rule of thumb is for each 100 pounds you lose you drop a tenth in the 1/4 mile. You are now almost 3 tenths quicker in the 1/4 :thumbs up:

Those are some cool lookin seats, but they don't look very comftorable. Not much padding, I bet they suck for long drives.

btw our seats weigh in at around 49lbs each, i weighed them already. Also, did you know the moonroof in a IS300 weighs 250lbs! Let's just assume that our car's moonroof weighs 150lbs instead. That's a whole lot of weight to lose for just removing the moonroof. It's something you should look into. That's what I'm doing.

it's against the law to remove/replace the front glass with anything else. but you can remove the rest and replace it with lexi glass....(not sure if that's how you spell that...)

you can make almost any car fast. but you have to put more effort into a 1st gen CL to get to that status. and plus its good to see thats someone is concentrating on something other than a WW lip, blacked housings, and a drop.

I agree......a civic is slow, and teggy is slow, an eclipse is slow, everything is fucking slow Stock. But with money, you can make anything fast.....why is that so hard for anyone to understand? I dont understand everyone's arguements when they imply our cars are slow. No shit, so is every other car, but with a lil bit of work and some money, you can make it better just like any other car.

i think that he means in order for the 1st gen CL in particular to get 'fast' it takes way more work than necessary, i.e. gutting the car, whereas a car like the mustang cobra, a few minor things and the car can see 11 sec runs... in cars its not always relative

As enthusiasts this is what we do i suppose. Just because it isnt what we wanted it to begin with doesnt mean we cant turn it into what we want all it needs to do is make us happy, and all the work has paid for itself. I actually like his gutting of interior / performance aspect not everyone wants a luxury car... play with the cards we are dealt. some do custom kits and shave this and that off, some do audio / suspension, these guys just happen to gutt interiors and mod up i would like to gutt my fuckin interior to just i have to drive people around

ok, to start, yes, i have a "legit" job hehe. im the manager of a large car wash here in Montgomery. also, YES, all that tar thats in our cars weighs EXACTLY 75 pounds. Ill take pictures of it. I still have to find a way to remove the lower part of the tart from the rear..which is the largest part...it took me 2 hours just to do the front portion !!! I found, that its better to freeze the material somehow so it becomes so brittle it chips off. When i did it with a flat head, it was 50 out at night time. then i used my air compressor to blow all the millions of debri out of the car, prepped it with a wire brush, then cleaned it with alcohal and air then painted the front gunmetal, ..the back Gloss black. Took my car to my car wash and vacumed the seats for 20 minutes and pooed the front halved carpets for 20.

i ran a little slower than shiney did..but in TX the wheather has you by the balls since is very humid and warm ALL the time. I think i was in the facinity of 14.91 NA. now...prolly 14.6 NA 13.xx bottle ? idk, my motor cant handle nitrous like shineys for some reason...im limited to 75 for now.( shineys motor is a freak of anything normal )

So basically you kept up with a CL-P but couldn't pass it yet you are running 14.9 or 14.6 and the CL-P runs 15.5 stock.
