i was driving through a small town in middlesex county, NJ called South River a town notorious for pulling people over for retarted things. so i was driving through there at about 11:45 PM and the cop pulls out from a side street and starts flashing his light. and i was like o shit one of my brake lights must be out or for my newly slammed appearance. then he TELLS me my exhaust is illegal. and i said i dont think so sir, i still have my stock catalytic-converter, a resonator, and a muffler. all that is different is that the piping is larger and the muffler is straight through design. so he goes back into his car and then comes out 10 mins later with 2 summons. one for the exhaust and another for unclear plates, because my AEM plate frames, cover "Garden State" on my license plate. fucking total bullshit!!! i love cops and want to be one myself, but that shit is ridiculous. i could believe this just happened to me...

yea south amboy cops are. for some reason they are under the impression that the drinking age is 18, but any other town in my area, have the need to give BS tickets and fines.

This reminds me of last Friday. I was drivin back home from college, and I got pulled over cuz of my damn tints. I knew it was going to come sooner or later with my 5% all around and 35% windshield tint. The cop didnt even notice my windshield, though. But after the cop tells me about how my tints are too dark and what not, he also says my license plate bracket was illegal, because it covered the "Show Me State" text on the lower part of the license plate. I had NO idea that was even a law... lmao. Luckily, he just let me off on a warning and "got my word" that I'd go and change the bracket immediately.

 

Damn cop clearly had nothing better to do.

You get no sympathy from me on this one,- been there done that many times, but have learned my lesson. True it’s a bullshit law, and they should be out taking care of other things, but it is the law, you broke it. Man up and pay the price, and this is one of them for having an chrome aftermarket exhaust systems that screams for attention.

i would fight it the worst that can happen ,oops it already did, lol, no but i would go to court thoug, ive gotten 3 diff, tickets for tint and i only had to pay one, diff times to, i just took it off showed them a pic, and put it back on, this last time i just said fuck it and put regular tint

Bottom line is that you can mod as far as your pockets are deep and that includes paying for tickets and\or higher insurance rates. When you get to be an OG like me you just want to ride clean and stay under the radar.

whoa chill, maybe in the eyes of the law the exhaust is illegal, but how can it be illegal when it will pass inspection. first off i wasnt fresh, i asked him for permission to explain, and he said yes, so i did, and was polite as i could be about it. like i said i love and have respect for cops. and 2nd when did i say i wasnt gonna man up and pay the fines. im probaly not gonna fight them so whatever. im not looking for your sympathy nor am i looking for others. this threads purpose was for me to leave a nice rant and vent off some steam.

I completely agree, they should have better things to be doing then pullling over people with minor exhaust violations. Here in VA, seems like the cops have done a good enough job handing out tickets i see WAY far less far cans on cars then in the late 90's early 2000's.

Just a side note though, This *may* be your first violation, but unforunately probably wont be your last so dont be surprised.
