Grill

Its a 99. I made the grill with a sheet of aluminum mesh. If you look at the close ups its not done under the hood like most.
TOOLS: black felt
cardboard
measuring tape
scissors
aviation snips
aluminum mesh
screwdriver
1. I measured out the dimensions of the top and bottom grill.
2. Using the dimensions, draw the shape of the top and bottom grill on a sheet of cardboard.
3. Cut the cardboard out, trim the edges if you have to so they fit over the grill covering it perfectly.
These 2 pieces will be used as templates for the aluminum mesh.
4. Place the 2 templates on top of the mesh and use a black felt(non permanent) to trace the top and bottom shapes.
5. For the top grill draw a 1/4" boarder around the shape. This 1/4" of mesh you'll have to bend a 90 degree lip to make it stand out and to hide the jagged edges. Look at the side view pic in my www.
Cut out the top portion and use the cardboard template bending the 1/4" edge around the cardboard. Place it on the car to see if it fits. You might have to trim a little more for a better fit.
Remove the front emblem and put the top grill on the car. Place the emblem back on where its suppose to be and mark the spots on the aluminum where emblems backing touches. You'll notice that there are 2 screw paths. Using needle nose pliers twist off the mesh pieces to create 2 holes so the emblem can be screwed back on the car. NOW holding the top grill in place sandwich the mesh between the emblem and the original grill. The emblem will hold the grill in place.
6. For the bottom grill again trace out a 1/4" boarder around the shape. You'll also have to draw 1" tabs on 8 points of the grill. Cut out the shape with the tabs. You'll have to cut out two parts of the bottom grill to make way for the license plate holder. So bend the 1/4" boarder 90 degrees and also bend the tabs. The tabs will be used to clamp or glue the grill on to the car.
Shit you DONE! Its alot harder to explain the process in words. I'll repost the other grill pics in my www to show you what the bottom grill look like under the hood to give an idea of how I put it on. GOOD LUCK! you'll need it. It took me 6 hrs to do this job. It would take like an hour to do it again.
Check out page 3 in my www for pics of the grill.
