going turbo?
Hey.. im new to the whole honda/acura thing... i was a DSM tuner, but ive turned over a new leaf to the better more reliable car
. anyway.. im still stuck on wanting a turbo and i realized you cant find a thing for the older CL's, but i hear sumthin like the Honda Accord has the exact same parts?... Mine is a '99 2.3CL.. so a turbo kit for my car can be bought as a kit for a '97 accord 2.3?.. i guess that leads to me next question... i udnerstand taht fact that F23 and H23 means the 2.3 engine but what does the F and H mean?.. could anyone tell me which one i have or atleast how i can find out? Thanks a lot in advance for whoever can help me!
98-02 parts would work for your engine (F23B..) Headers, CAI, for example. As far as turbo goes, Im not too sure about that. Could be though.
F is domestic (Stateside) and H is Euro/JDM... you have an F23. It's got alot less Horsepower than the H23, but It's alot stronger and better for turbo kits I hear. Not to mention that the H series engines are DOHC vs. F series, which are SOHC.
Also, if you're looking to turbo, there have been plenty of topics on it lately in this forum. Go ahead and use the search button to find those topics, and if you still have any questions that arent answered in those, dont hesitate to ask.

What happened here? You homos infected the thread with the :ghey: virus. :shakehead
As for the
s question...
You will need a custom Turbo kit for you car. I've seen SOHC 2.2 ad 2.3 accords with Turbos kits...so I don't think its impossible but be prepared to invest ALOT!

For your turbo kit you will need it from a 98 Accord EX and up with the F23 engine code

to help clearify...since i've turboed the f23 and the h22 in the cl
if you are looking for a turbo kit for the f23 motor you can use any kit from 94+ EX
it doesnt matter if it is 2.2 or 2.3 just as long as it is the vtec motor
i know this because the first time i turboed my cl was with the f23 motor and i bought a used turbo kit that was on a 94 accord EX
h22 is ALOT of money and time....
ask yourself this question...."how fast/quick do you want your car to be?"
if you are looking to get 12's you want the h22
if you are looking to get mid to high 13's i think it is possible with a built f22/23
hope that helps

I give I give... I got burninated.
I could have sworn that I read somewhere that the F series engines would need less work to just slap a turbo on to it than an H series...
Of course, once you make sure all pieces are stronger so the turbo doesnt wreck it, H > F by a ga-jillion. duh. I probably should have clarified that a bit more...
And if Im wrong again, I'll just save the trouble for you.
