going to the track tonight

well, i was gonna go tracks yesterday but it was pouring rain, and today it cleared up real good, so ill be going down there to clock my car for the first time, im a virgin at the race track and i never clocked a car once in my life...should be exciting though, i just recently installed my CAI and couple months ago installed my headers...

if im a good driver what times do you guys expect me to run with the iceman CAI and obx headers?

well, wish me luck, peace!

well at least you now have the time to make sure you got everything else checked out. Oil change, tranny fluids good, air pressure, make sure you running at a lil more than a quarter tank, shit, strip the back just this once, reset your ECU (just to make sure you get every lil HP from the mods), and if you really wanna get smoother performance....get RACE GAS, (113 octane) it will cost you about $40 for 5 gallons. Well these are just a few things to think about if you want every tenth or millionth of a second to count. Good luck, and have fun.

NO NO NO! It won't do a damn thing for out cars performance, it might actually hurt it. Not to mention a waste of money.

seriously? mmm....not what i've been hearing, but i'll take your word for it. One thing I am %100 sure of is that Race Gas is something that will help you if you go with NOS. Less of a chance of detonation and better performance. Now that i am sure of. But anywayz, do you know why it would hurt the car using Race Gas, letz say in stock form? I love to learn everything i can about cars.

race gas reatards detonation which is bad for stock motors... not enough air/spark to detonate high octane gas fully... i think

our engine is designed to run on 87, and the dyno proves that even 93 starts to suck some of our badly needed power away... why would you go and add gas that will fill the engine up with stuff it cant combust

shit, but what about once you mod your car that allows more air to come in, and for it to flow out easier? then would you go with a higher octane, cause i been using only 91 (cali) and 93 (texas) octane on my car.

The only cars that benifit from higher octane are FI (forced induction - IE turbo/super). You're just wasting money on the higher octane.

well, i've reset my ecu with higher octane. our cars are pretty much computers. whenever you mod your car, you gotta reset the ecu so that it can adjust itself to the mod. If you reset the ecu with higher octane , wont it start to only like to accept the higher octane in order to perform better?

No, octane does not have anything to do with power. It's affecting timing: it helps you engine stop knocking. That's it.

plus, certain all motor vehicles can only take higher octane gas...especially the european cars, i'm talking about benz and shit. the reason why itz more expensive is because it has less carp (lead), which is bad for the motor anywayz. i'm just trying to get all the info i can about this subject. ((now i'm talking about if your car is modded)stock i know it'll take Hp away)

Certain cars use higher octane because they either have high compression engines or forced induction. The CL Type-S uses 93 octane b/c it has 10.5:1 compression.

It's doesn't have less crap in higher octane gas. You can get the same effect my mixing an octance booster into a lower rated gas.

Just let the ricers think what they want. Race one and beat his ass, then be sure and point out that you're using 87 octane vs. his 113 (or w/e).

yea, but you have to be sure to let the car idle for 5-10 min, do not rev the motor.

To reset the ECU. Remove the ECU fuse for 10 15 min. Much easyer than disconnecting the Battery. Look on the fuse box cover to find the correct fuse. Also if you disconnect your battery you better have your radio code ready to reinstall.

Not to mention it might be leaded. So you might have to replace your cats after running thru it.
