What do you drive now??

What qualities are you looking for in this new vehicle?........i.e. fast, roomy, luxury, 4x4, 2-door or 4-door, etc??

You have a lot of options with $30,000.

Well you probably can't wrong with the Lexus for reliability and customer service. I've heard a lot of complaints about the quality and fit/finish of the interior on the IS300, but I haven't seen one myself.

How about the CL Type-S? The styling doesn't turn some people on, but if you like your current CL it would be more of the same performance and feature-wise.

I personally dont like the new CL's that much, but that would be better than the IS300.

Stay away from the 2nd gen if u already ahve the 1st gen. The 2nd gen is a great car and I love it's styling, but it's time for you to try a different car!

For almost the same price (IS300), I believe you can get a BMW 325Ci.

It all depends on what you want. For example the sticker on the S2000 and CLS w/navi are about the same but they are 2 different cars. Do your prefer luxury or sport? Somthing like the S2000 is sport. The CLS is more luxury with a touch of sport. The IS300 is a nice car but I personally think it looks like a civic. BMW 3 series are nice but the sticker starts to climb when adding options putting you way over $30,000. There are a lot of choices out there for $30,000. It all depends on your preference and needs.

When I was looking at the S2000 two years ago, dealers were asking at least $5K over sticker. Now that the novelty has worn off, are they being more reasonable?

If you want to get into those cars your budget is going to have to be higher. It would be tough to find one of those cars for anything less than 35K. Personally, I would go with the IS. That car is unbelievable. Go drive one, and out of all the cars that are talked about is probably the least expensive around 34K loaded. Good Luck

well lets look at it this way...i have '97 3.0 with a K&N drop in and i use B&M Trick Shift and i get a consistent 0-60 of 7.0-7.1 secs.....not far off the new CL-S (according to C&D 0-60 in 6.8)....by the way, the CLS weighs about 3500 poumnds with 260 HP so a 1st gen CL with 220 HP and 3100 pounds is in great shape!!!!!! Why spend the $$? I took off thge other day beside a new CL-Sand he cried trying to shake me off!!!!!!!

Agreed. I was going to get this car over the TL-S b/c it would be more fun to drive, but it didn't have the creature comforts I'm used to in the Acura. If it just offered leather, I probably would have jumped on it. I saw the sweetest one up by me this weekend. It was white with the big spoiler, ground effects and Subaru exhaust.... I was drooling all over it. Actually it was funny b/c I was staring at his car and he was staring at mine!!

crazy might be a tad strong, boys. i drove both the TL-S and a WRX and it's mighty hard to NOT drool over both. two different classes, indeed. however, it sure is a tough decision to pick one over the other. the WRX is such a blast to drive that one may be tempted to overlook its quirky looks, nearly nonexistent rear seat, and econo-car roots. i agree with junior, the WRX is short on ammenities and is rather impractical as a daily driver (IMO).
