Fuel Fill
Fuel Fill
hey guys,
just wondering if anyone else has this problem. When my acura 3.0 goes just a hair under a 1/4 of a tank of fuel it has trouble starting (its been doing this since it was new). Anyway, i always fill it at a quarter of a tank with supreme. but looking at the mileage i know that still have plenty of fuel??? is it just me or is the fuel fill placed high?...i don't know!
thanks

same here, i try to keep my gas from going below or too below 1/4 tank anyway. if any sediment or crap is in there dont want it to get sucked up to the fuel line. just keep it full.....

It has been my experience with fuel-injected cars that this is common. My old 89 Probe GT did it. My 00 Honda Odyssey does it. My 98 CL2.3 does it, did it this morning. I think when the tank is low, the fuel pressure drops. What I do is let the engine crank for about 1 second, then stop and wait about 3 to 5 seconds, then crank it again. On the second try the electric fuel pump has brought the pressure back up and it will start instantly.
Try it! It Works!
Good Luck!

Yes
All my fuel injected hondas seemed to operate this way. What I do always, is turn the key to the "RUN" position and wait a second or two to build up the fuel press. Then when I continue on to the "CRANK" position, boom...instant start every time.

Not sure
I don't have 3.0, but off the top of my head, I don't think that is somthing that happens to other 3.0 owners that I know. I agree with Ricka220, your best bet is to turn the key on and leave it to let the fuel pump kick in, and then try and start it. You may even want to press the gas petal in a couple times.
I have to do the same thing with my bike as far as the on postition and wait for the fuel pump. I would try that also.

I'm pretty sure that unless you engage the starter, the fuel pump will not even start. That's why I recomend hitting the start for a second, then waiting a couple of seconds. If it's real quite, you'll actually hear the fuel pump run until the pressure builds up.
