Front and rear speakers

I know that a good number of speaker questions have already been addressed. But are there any aftermarket front (either 5 1/4 or 6 1/2, component system or not) and rear speakers that will fit a 97 2.2 CL WITHOUT any kind of modification???

the front speakers seem to be pretty flexible with what will fit, I put in boston acoustics 5 1/4's and they fit perfect. The stock speakers are 5 1/4.

guys at stereo shop said they were gonna charge me $55... because of fitment issues.. for speakers and $20/wire for each speaker wire ran to the trunk.. so i said FCK DAT and did the shit myself...no problems at all.. i wanted it done by them so they could take it out when i wanted, but they decided they wanted to screw me..

the size all depends on the manufacturer.. call and ask before you buy.. 6 1/2 from one could be too big and 5 1/4 from another could be too small.. ya dont know until you ask..

Thanks, guys.

capa_22CL, did you have to do any cutting to make the 6 1/2 fit? I may be sounding monotonous...just wanna make sure. Good luck with the installation this weekend. Lemme know how it turns out.

CLUofI, thanks for the info. I used the search function and saw a post that says the stock front speakers for the 2.2 is 6 1/2.

hell no... none at all..woofers fit fine.. and tweeters fit even better.. if you get other brands they sometimes put tweeters and woofers in same speaker and call it a component..watchoself

i bouston accoustic's all around ... with the pro series components up front and the magnet was to big ( hit window) so a spacer had to be added .. no big deal any shop has em and can do it for the cost of a normal install maybe slightly higher

By the way the stock size of the front speakers in a 2.2 is 6 1/2 its just some companies make the speaker to deep so they won't fit like rockford fosgate thier 6 1/2's are to deep to fit. I recommend anybody getting components to get the new pioneer component set just cause they are cheap and they sound very good i'm about to sell my pioneer 4 way 6 1/2's to cop me a pair of 6 1/2 components.

Are you kidding? I had to completely fabricate a brand new speaker spacer to fit the type r's their magents were huge. As for the 6x9's they fit in with no prob. But fronts were a pain in the ASS to get it. Take a look at this pic, the spacers are about an inch.
