Finally, hids

I got a hid kit off ebay for 360 shipped. They are the hanabi hid kit 7000k 9006 kit. I think they are like Caspers. I should be getting them by the end of the week. After drooling over some of CLs that had at the last meet, I finally got them. (you guys have to stop influencing me from buying mods)

kelvins. that is the color temp of the light/ the higher the more purple and the worse light output it. im pretty sure 6300k is the highest true hid capsule the rest are coated to change the color to look like 8000k etc. its all for looks. 4300k is a much better light output, but unless u have projectors it will look almost pure white and most ppl dont like that. either way it will be A LOT better than halogen

Actually I thought the highest real one was 6000k? That would be the highest I personally would go..but that's just me.

Man vxcl..Wish I could do a projector custom install like yours! That is great!

you know.. its funny about the whole "k" number... yes the higher the more blue... my 8000 are very blue as compared to stock acura bulbs (i think 4000k).... but they are just as bright!!!1 my brother and I have sat side by side and project the same brightness and distance.. i think there may be a mis understanding as far as brightness goes.. IMO

the higer you go in the kelvin range, the less lumens the bulb emits.

when you that high, you are begining to block out light from the spectrum, so you wind up seeing less clearly on the road in front of you.

the only downside to hid's is that you dont see as well in the rain and especially the fog.

p.s. oem acura are 4300k.

So you've been driving around with no headlights? eek..In case you didnt see the other thread, how long would it take to do a custom job if I just buy the parts from you? I dont think I can go that long without headlights.

That's really up to you? Personally I wouldnt go higher than 6000k...but just know that the higher k# you go, you get more color. Stock bulbs for most are 4300k, but like it is stated above, without projectors, the 4300k would just look very pure white.

well, i understand what is said about Kelvins, but from MY experiences now.. I DISAGREE!!! The 8000ks are just as bright as 4300k stocks.. SO WTF IS EVERYONE TALKING ABOUT!?!?!?!

the ONLY difference is color... I am just as bright as a 99 TL and 02 TL-S... so.. can anyone care to explain?!

Thanks guys. I would like to see pics of someone with a 6000k kit compared to stock or other aftermarket hids to get a feel for what they look like on a first gen.
