f*** black housings

okay..i am getting really fed up with the black housings. I re-sealed them for a 3rd time...everything was fine. It rained like 2 or 3 times, no condensation...i thought finally, everything is fixed!!

um yeah...well, i thought wrong. Last night the passenger side starts to fog up again...and this morning, the driver's side has decided to join in on the fun. I think my headlights have it out for me...they wanna play the "let's piss katie off" game.

SO...i am going to get new headlights, fuck the black housings, they arent worth the trouble. and on top of all that, i have to pull them back out again, because friday afternoon i bought NOKYA headlights, 80w...blue as hell...they are gorgeous. seriously fuck silverstar...NOKYA kicks ass!!! my stock corner bulbs look piss yellow compared to my new headlights! so i can't turn them on or they'll blow out because of the condensation...so once again...dammit...i've got to pull the headlights off.

i dont think i have ever cussed so much in my life!!!

so i am going to hit up the local junkyards to see if i can find any?? probably wont be able to, but i figure what the hell...maybe i'll get lucky and not have to pay for brand new ones.

ig u just use some of this and then push them back together you will have no probs. do NOT USE SILICONE SEALANT!!!! it heats up and moves around which equals no more seal!!!

the permatex ultra black stuff. i use that when i do xenon projector conversions. and im cutting the housing apart!!! not one single problem. one tip though do not wipe off the excess when it globs out from the sides!!!!! wait till it dries and then it just pulls right off. otherwise you will ruin your nice clear lenses with smeared sealant. never ever ever use goo gone to clean it up.

and if u do decide to drop $420+ to buy brand new headlamps ill buy ur old ones for $100. then i can sell a complete xenon setup.

VXCL:

maybe thats my problem...i did use silicone sealant...which would explain why it worked for a little bit and then started acting up again..

thanks so much for the advice, i'll go by the store tomorrow and pick up what you suggested. I'll try it again..thats what is so annoying, i know i put enough sealant on them, i'm not stupid when it comes to common sense shit about cars, i know what i'm doing. thats why i couldnt figure out what was going wrong.

thanks for the suggestions...looks like i'll be having more oven fun tomorrow afternoon haha

i used silicone in one... and the other i just heated up the headlight again and stuck it back together... it has been over 2 months and that shit still not foggin up or any water has gotten in it.... and we have plenty of water here in south fla.... stick to the silicone... i bought mine in home depot... and it was white... made for boats... so u know it has to keep the water out...unless u look really hard at the headlight u cannot see the silicone...

There is plenty of silicone sealent(caulk-like) that will word I'm sure...just buy non-acrylic type. If all else fails, use roof sealant...that shit will never leak...

No joke...roof sealant, in a caulk tube.

That shit stays pliable for a short while, but is super-great at fixin leaks...that's why it's "roof" sealant...lol

Lucky u, My are kinda starting to do that without taking them apart. Damn some of the stock seal must be startiing to rot or something. I think I am going to try to do the mod like next spring/summer when the weather is a bit warmer. Right not it like low 60 damn New York. And I don't kinda feel like crawling under the car.

Maybe u can do like a trade in program. Where u send say me a complete set. Charge me the full amount, and when I like send you my pair, provided they are in good condition, u refund me some money back. I think you can sell a good amount like that.

I think he meant "silcone sealant" as in the generic name for the sealant for the showers and stuff or around the windows. The ones that you put in the caulking gun.

I referred to the 'caulk-type' silicone sealants previously.

I have no faith in non-silicone products...they tend to fail over time.

She should def stick to the good stuff.

Lowes/Home Depot/local hardware will have the proper shit. I'm sure they'll also have the quick-setting caulk also.

Today I was ready to do the headlights....it only took about half an hour to get the bumper and everything off.... and right as I was putting it in the oven I backed out... I don't really think they would look good on my black.. you guys are scaring people away from it lol.

how much are those xenon lights?

the real dealer stuff is exensive. the corner lense starts to melt at 250 degrees and the housing itslef starts at about 350. so anything that can handle at least 300 ahould be fine.

*update*

okay, just went out and checked the headlights...i havent pulled them off or anything because i am just too fawking lazy to do it now. but ALL the condensation in the passenger one is gone and the drivers side is starting to chill out too...i will still re-seal them, but not now...and i switched back to my stock bulbs, so at least if they blow out...they'll be cheapies and not the aftermarket ones
