Experience with headlight bulbs?
Anyone have any experiences with headlight bulbs? I currently have a 9006 piaa superwhite installed in my lobeam with stock hibeams. I'm thinking of upgrading to the PIAA superplasmas(sold only in japan but u can get them for around $100 on ebay), and maybe getting one of those catz zeta kits. Or do you think I will be better off getting the galaxy white bulbs from catz if i get the zeta kit? Any other bulb recommendations etc. are welcome!

I've heard the Catz Zeta kits are bull. Theeir supposed to be HID's but they just give out more watts from what I heard. I don't know about the PIAA SuperPlasmas so let me know.

yo go PIAA. they are over priced but u get the peace of mind that u can rely on them. as far as superplasmas go they look hot (they are purplsih like hid benz and bmw), but dont work as good as superwhites. i personally have seen them all. i had superwhites but im changing to xtremes to match my blinkers. ur vision will decrease in the rain the higher u get on the kelvin scale. superplasmas being the worst. i would reccommend some yellow ion fogs for driving in the rain. try here. they have bulbs pretty dam cheap. hightechimportlighting

I just want to tell all of you with the hyperwhite superwhite plasma super plasma and etc... I would upgrade your wireing harness for like 30 dollars i have seen it to many times when people dont do the upgrade and melt their wiring harness so spend that little extra money or spend a lot like me and get the H.I.D. which I think I am going to take out for a little cheaper way in bulbs since a set of my H.I.D. bulbs costs about 200 dollars I would rather sell my H.I.D. kit make about 600 dollars thats what ive been offered and buy better things and just upgrade my harnesses and put in PIAA hyper white or plasmas well hope this input helps

I want some that are as white as they can be. Not blue, or purple, or green, or yellow.
White with as little blue as possiable. What would be my best bet?

all piaa bulbs are not higher wattage and u dont need any wiring harness. that why piaas cost alot. they only operate at 55 watts but perfrom like a 110 watt bulb. if u want to see all the differences of the bulbs go to my link above. anyways i was talking kelvin.
Kelvin Scale
Color temperature is a unit or measure for the color of light. It is not necessarily related to the heat of the light source. A higher color temperature represents a color closer to actual sunlight.
super plasmas have a 4500-5000k. if u want white as possible with no blue then u want piaa superwhites or piaa superwhite platinums. the platinums have a slightly higher kelvin rating then the regular superwhites. i have superwhites now and they are nice bright white. no blue. the extremes have a slightly blue tint, but are pretty much white.

The closer to incendescent light the color is, the better you can see in the rain... the closer to UV (blue and purple), the worse the visibility is in the rain. Take note of these factors as well.

3PointZero is right. Also, bear in mind, the more purple you want the light to be, to more tint on the bulb glass is required. Thinking about the tint on your windows, what does that mean? Less light. The best bulbs for your money (if you want white light) are Philips BlueVisions. PIAAS work well, but for $50 to $70, just aren't worth it. PIAAs claims of 85W of light from just 55W...all BS. It's physically impossible...it's just a marketing ploy. The Philips bulbs can be found in autoparts stores for no more than $30.

okay all i knwo is that my piaas work for better and brighter then my stock bulb and they are the same wattage. so thats what matters. maybe they dont actually livve up to a 110w bulb but they are definitely much much brighter. if i look into them dead level at night they are blinding. my stock wasnt like that.

Same here. I have Hyperwhites and have had no problems with the wiring harness. They are very brite and I've had some people highbeam me and complain. I no longer use the foglights either.

Well, I'm using the PIAA purple-ish color bulb right now. It has a gold-ish tint around the bulb, looks pretty cool.
Like all these wonderful folks said, purple doesn't work well in rain or on roads that have very dark pavement. That's why I always turn my fog lights on when I'm driving on the freeway. But if u live in the city where there's light everywhere, those purple bulbs sure looks great. I love that clear purple light, not too bright to a point that it'll blind people.
If you want I can take a pic of my bulb so u can decide.
HID...too expensive...no money =(

You got the super plasmas for your CL? Its the 9006 size right??? Whered you pick them up from? I was wondering what would be better with the CATZ ZETA system(it plugs into ur stock wiring harness to intensify the bulbs you already have the website is www.fet-usa.com) a set of superplasmas or their own galaxy whites...

I just traded my friend my subs and amp for his philips HID kit... OMG!! Huge difference... these things are better than the ones in the new CL/TL's. I have no regrets for swapping, I always have trouble seeing at night and now everything is so clear and defined. If you can afford them ($400 brand new) get this kit, it is absolutley amazing!! You can definatly see excelent in the rain too!!!

acuradan69,
yes, 9006 will be good.
I got these bulbs when I was visiting Japan last year.
Japanese doesn't use 9006 as its call number.
I think they are call HB4 in Japan.

In my 99CL, I'm using Hiper Industries H.I.D. Super Plazma Xenon bulbs, will this fry my wiring harness, and has anyone swapped the bulbs for all the other light positions?(ex:headlight sidemarkers, blinkers, bumper light sidemarkers)
I'm using PIAA platinum super white bulbs for my headlight sidemarkers, Hibrid Xenon gas charged bulbs for my bumper sidemarkers, and PIAA Xtreme white bulbs for the blinkers on the bumper lights. Will any of these bulbs be too hot for the casing their in, I already burnt my headlight peice on one side because someone sold me a bulb that they said would fit, and it melted the plastic sidemarker.
