engine whinning problem......

everyone, i need your help, today i hopped in my car and rove it and notice that it was making a high pitched humming noise and it wasnt my intake, it was something coming from the left side like where the altenator is and the pulleys. its when you rev it and you can hear it slightly when you drive normally. but mostly it when you rev the gas. the guy at the shop i take it t, said it could be a altenator problem or the water pump bearing going out.????? WTF, please someone if anyone has had this problem let me know asap. any suggestions are helpful and possiblities are endless.
well thanks for all that help, hope to here from all you soon, contact also through aol im @ jgiguere17

you might check your ground wires on your radio.

yeah but the radio doesnt matter the noise is still there when it isnt on(note: you can not hear it through the speakers, you have to have the window down).

Its the water pump Ive had this happen in two different cars. It gets worse to. But hey look at it this way you can get one of those AC-Autotechnic Water Pumps that claim a 7-10 hp increase. ALso I wouldnt have your old pump rebuilt they tend to break again.

all the water pump votes are wrong, it is the bearing for the altenator. man that thing was pricey, the dealer wanted $435 not installed for a rebuilt one but i want a high output one, anyone have any suggestions?i hate this noise, sounds like a siren. well go to go. check you later.
