Engine Shutting Off

For some bizarre reason my engine has cut off on me three different times on the highway and once just cruising around a parking lot. I’ll be going like 70 and everything just cuts off! … I have to then put it in neutral and crank it back up … any thoughts?

Hello,

Did you get an ignition recall from Acura? That's exactly what it sounds like. You should get it done quick as it only gets worse.

Hope this helps,
James

My car did the same thing and it was the fuel pump.

I would say that the 2 existing problems would lead to that...

1. Ignition wire.... but that would cause you to have probs starting your car too...

2. Blocked EGR (ERG) valve... blocks fuel/air flow mixture causing your motor to choke and shut off...

those are your possibilities... you can check your VIN # and see if your car falls under either recall!

I think I did get a recall for the starter but I didn't think that had anything to do with it. I think i'm going to go get that done today

Your starter has nothing to do with it "shutting off". The starter only starts the car then sits there and does nothing until you need to start it again.

Yea that is extremely dangerous.
Check for the obvious vacuum leaks faulty wires(spark plug) and the such. It can really be anything from your ignition to your emission components. Usually your service engine soon light will light up if its one of the emissions components.

They usually contact you via mail. But you can also go to owners link at acura.com which will also tell you.
