Engine Problem

Hey friends.

I haven't had many major problems with my car in the past (mechanics-wise).

But I actually started having trouble with something today.

I was driving up Semoran Blvd (major road in Orlando)

and my car starts to bog.

Im going from 1st - 2nd - 3rd and I'm in the realms of 1,000rpm - 2,000rpm.

Its like I hit the gas and the car won't move, I'll let off the gas and then punch

the gas quickly, not WOT, but i'll punch it because it feels like the "throttle is sticking".

I just filled her up with 93 octane. I plan on throwing some fuel additive when

I fill her up next. My thoughts on this are (what it could be) :

1. Fuel Line (Pump, Filter, Fuel itself - aka tainted gas)

2. IACV - Something to do with the Air intake of the engine (I checked, my filters clean)

3. Transmission - I doubt it, because I know my shifts and I know a bad shift when I

hear one.. This one has to do with the motor, but I am not ruling out that my

clutch packs for 1st - to - 2nd could be hurtin'

4. Motor - Oil is not leaking, nothing is leaking-- I'm clueless there

You do realize that 93 octane does nothing more for the CL than 87 octane, right?

Although you should use it once a month or so...it's good for your injectors. Normally its a waste of money.

i feel like its something electric.

the car vibrates and sometimes just doesnt want to go forward

unless i let off the gas and then punch it again (sometimes takes a few tries).

It sounds crappy at idle too.

I really hope my transmission isnt fucked.

I have a 3rd party warranty on the car,

I'm scared that whatever the problem is, its not covered.

P.s. I have no leaks.

alternator... i know it sounds weird, but thats an old school problem and i dont know if that would happen to a newer car.

edit: actually read you were 1st gen... im really sure its an alternator or the battery. autozone will test them for ya for free.

my car started boggin a little after I took it in for the recall. I just made an appointment to go back. i'm hoping it's something simmple. mine happens between 2 and 3 thousand RPMs.
I thought maybe compression cuz I could be just cruising and I'll start getting a gerbling noise. anyone have an idea?

Could be leaky Fuel Injectors and/or alot of those symptoms remind me of how my car drove with a F'd up EGR valve.

Does your gas pedal have to have an unusual amount of pressure pressing on the pedal to get the RPMs up??? Mine's been doing this lately...I know I have a Leak in my B-pipe, btu could this be a result of a bad EGR valve? Easy fix?

I just remembered that i still have the top intake manifold, and TB from when i parted my first gen... Soo thats always an option. Its got 52 miles on it as I painted my first one all silver with red accents and swapped it to the other first gen that i had. So if you want that, I can sell it to you.

i hope that its only the plugs

or only the fuel filter.

or only something simple.

I installed a ground system today and it did nothing.

I'm at the point where I'm depressed over this shit.

I love my CL and this is really putting a damper on life.

^ the truth hurts.

I might bite the bullet and drop the car off at the Honda dealership tomorrow.

( i have an extended waranty )

87 here costs $3.43 per gallon I've seen it for $3.55 closer to seattle.

93 is 20 cents more per gallon, and most of my driving is stop and go (not too much freeway), so my gas mileage sucks anyways.

same here. $3.40 for 93 n my H22 wont run on anything but that.
I get my gas in NJ for about $.50 less per gallon.
As far as the problem my car has been acting up big time too. I need to clean my IAC plus seafoam. Oil job, air filter n clean spark plugs.
maybe a Tein SS-P next week

last time that bogging thing happened to mine (sounds just like your problem) it was my ignition wires.

^ for the IAC, do I just get in there with a brush? that's just a sensor right? cuz I took it back to the dealer twice and they said it was a "loose" plug wire. I think that's bull but I don't wanna drive 20 min just to have them gimme the run around. but I can't stand this puttering.
