My friend and I have done it several times before including on his integra's valve cover and his brothers civic's valve cover.
We thoroughly sanded down both covers with 400 grit sand paper (i think). Then we hit it up with two coats of high heat primer 1200 degree from Advance autoparts and then followed it with the high temperature engine paint/enamel also from Advance (3 coats)

Friends Integra, Ford Blue we also put a light coat of high temp clear on there:

His brothers civic's cover (no clear coat used):

can't remember what color we used.

You need to search bro, all the stuff you're starting threads for have been discussed a million times.

Here's mine, I used plastikote 1200 deg ceramic gloss black paint, primer, and clear coat, all 1200 deg paint.

Still gotta sand and paint the letters and put the new chrome A on, but you get the idea

just out of curiosity, is it possible to leave the plastic off? i hate the ever increasing amount of plastic on newer cars...

You can get away with driving without the trim, I'd use at least the front piece that holds the spark plug wires, and the channel that holds the spark plug wires, I wouldn't want those just hanging, but I drove without them for a couple days and it was fine

Piece on far right, and bottom that I would keep on, but you could probably get away without the bottom piece, at least leave the 3 wire railing, it can detach from everything else, it bolts right back on, or stays without messing with it

started mine out last Fall with the mentioned Ford Blue.. got too cold to really get anything done on it, so it looks terrible as it stands.
Now that the weather is getting warmer, I'll be finishing the job soon enough followed by pics.
