Engine Noise

After I installed my amp I am hearing some engine noise through the speakers. Like I give it gas and there is a whistle in the speakers. I didnt run any wires at all near the ECU what else could cause engine noise though speakers. ALso on my CVA-1005 when I stomp on the gas the screen kind of distorts. Would a capacitor fix this problem or would I have to go to a larger altinator.

try gettign a diff ground. try grounding all ur things to the same place. ex a grounding block. also if u got 4 gauge power comming from ur battery then ur gound should be a 4 gauge wire. both should be the same. also soem patch cables are made to work in only one direction. check that. keep the power wire as far away from everything u can. also again it mught not be ur power wire it could be ur patch cables. did u run them near anything?? but u said ur tv screen distorts? u r defintiely getting interference from something. try hooking up one thing at a time. and keep testing. as soon as u get engine noise STOP and theres ur prob.

What kind of system do you have?

how long is your ground wire? I have heard that if your ground wire is to long it will create noises through your speakers.

I have the amp in the same place so I guess I should just tap one into the wheel well.

RCA cables and power cables next to each other can make noise too, they should be ran on oppiside sides of the car.

hey 23... nice name!! make sure all your power wires are away from the patch cords, and also make sure you have central grounds if you have more than one amp... as far as the deck goes, try brining it back for a replacement or call alpine.

sometimes it depends on if wires are run next to each other... believe it or not, it may even be on what side of the car... my power wire and RCAs are on opposite sides of the car... I know BMWs have to be run down the center dure to interference with computer..
if its not thaty... simply get a noise filter!!

The ground was the problem with the whistle it was both to thin and to long. I know better than to do that I dont know what I was thinking. The wires are of course run on different sides and no where near the ECU. But the CVA still distorts at full throttle around when vtec kicks in. I also dont think it is a problem whith the system but something to do with the altinator or something. I dont know

Hmmm... I haven't had any probs w/ those kinds of noises but I do have a gripe regarding noise and my CL. My car is totally stock but its tire noise seems to be out of place w/ the rest of the car. Every other aspect seems so smooth and refined but the tire noise seems high even for a Honda. Anyway, just thought I'd see if anyone else has these probs w/ their 1st GEN CL's stock tire set-up. Laters... -Kelly
