Engine Light is on, i'm scared
Sup guys my engine light just went on and I'm scared Acura is going to say something since I have an intake on there. It went on just a couple days ago, I thought it was because I hadn't changed the oil in like 8,000 miles but it stayed on after I changed it. Has anyone had any probs with the engine light with their intake and what has Acura srvc said about it?
Hey, my engine light is on as well. But, I think it came on because I haven't change my oil in about 8,000 miles(I changed my oil right after that), just like you said. My car sounds fine, and it doesn't seem like there's any problem with it. But it'll cost money to turn the engine light off.
Your engine light will not come on because of polluted oil. Your engine light tells you of emission problems, gas cap left off, egr valve, maifold leaks,etc... Which there is an extended emission warranty for all cl's. So it will be free to fix it. I would have to say it sounds like your EGR valve is blown. Which does not hurt your car to drive on it.
Yeah it has nothing to do with oil. Mine has come on a few times The first time they replaced the EGR and it came right back on and it was carbon sludge build up (around 120k) than it came on around 190k or so and it was something else but im not sure what (around $100 to fix) get it checked out

U can check the codes urself with a paper clip and stick it into a harness under the glove box or behind the ash tray and the light will flash. You might want to PM niedejb. He has all the info regarding the engine light issue and the book that can reference u to all the codes. He will prob reply soon.

How to check engine light codes
usually, and from experience i say this, thew light will come on when you need a simple oil change as you say you needed... it is designed so that ACURA has to change your oil and once THEY doi that they reset your comp and it goes off... but since you changed your oil by another source it is still on... go to your dealership and ask them to reset your check engine light!
if they say that there is another prob, then its a different story, but if they can reset it then PROBLEM SOLVED!
