Is an egine flush necessary? does it benefit the engine ?

I know that tranny flushes are not a good idea but idk about engine flushes. Just keep regular oil changes and you shouldn't have to..

 

thats sort of pointless. just another way to take your money

 

most I ever do, is run a quart straight through after draining, except really I used to do that on older cars, think I've run a 1/2 quart through the CL once. Just use good, oil and filters, you search for that, I use mobil one oil and bosch filters only. and no flushes.

I'll add technically speaking every time you change the oil its a flush, if you're worried, due to crappy looking oil often, just change it quicker, though I do 7500mi. on my above oil/filter combo

Yea. i did a search on ask.com and that is what I came up with.

The only people that believe in a flush is the company that offers the flush.

Pretty ridiculous. I just did a regular oil change with gastrol gtx 5W30 oil.

 

I only flushed my engine once and that was right before i switched to synthetic bc they included the flush for free. I was worried bc w 123K miles at the time I thought i may develop a leak. but 60K miles later she doesn't burn or leak a drop btw changes..

not really...I did it more for the peace of mind of having good oil in there which will give my car the best shot at a long healthy life.

 

I'm never using dino oil again, synthetic is cheap enough now a days, especially considering how long we're keeping our cars now. I would have never kept a car past 120k mi. Now I clapped when the CL turned over 150k mi, just got to take care of them as best you can.

p.s. I do remember it running a bit smoother after the change. Now remember (this could be a myth so correct me if I'm wrong) once you go synthetic, dont ever go back to dino, heard it's very bad to do.

 

I use Forte engine flush, and then use a engine oil to remove any flush, then fill with the oil of my choice. Engine oil does have detergent packages within the oil to help clean the moving parts. People have many different veiws on so many products and do's and dont's! At the end of the day it come down to a personal preference.
