does our CL react poorly to high wattage bulbs?
Rain and fog starting to hit its time for some high wattage bulbs. Anyone here use 85W bulb with the stock wiring?
If so, any known problem about it with the wire?
Any brand suggestion for 85W bulb?
Thanks

more wattage isn't always that much better.....but as far as I know it, it won't mess up the wiring. I was running 80w bulbs for a while with no side effects. Remember though, sometimes the brighter the bulb, the more reflection you will get.
HID's for instance don't work too well in foggy situations and I hear rain too....

I was runing 80 watt Xaxos for awhile and no problems. They were probably about as bright as stock and looked really good but blew in like 1 1/2 months. Make sure your headlight housing doesnt get too hot though and melt something. You might always want to make or buy a wiring harness that hooks directly to you battery that way you wont have to worry about melting the wiring and it will make your headlights brighter. You could also look into the catz kit that makes your lights 170% according to them. For thick fog you might want to invest in some yellow fog lights Hope this helps

Thanks for the reply.
I looked into the Catz Zeta kit and was thinking about getting it too but it uses the stock wire though so it may causes problem.

IMO definatly go with the HID's if you are able to afford them, I have them cause I like to be able to see good at night and I got them for a good price. But I used to have 100 watt (yes, 100) naxos bulbs for low beams before that with no problems... if the bulb is gonna draw too much power, it will blow the fuse first. But I definatly say HID if your cash flow is adequate.

Money... i've spare... but I don't know if I should invest that much on HID rather than putting it on a nice set of rims...
hm.... the cheapest I found in Vancouver here is $1000 with install. What do you think?

The philips kit is always on e-bay for right around $400... thats the kit I have and the light is very close to the light produced on the new cl/tl's. They are VERY easy to install too... the bulb fits into the housing just like the origional 9006 bulb, then just mount the balast somewhere and plug the factory harness into it. That would solve both your issues, cause they are incredibly bright and they use almost no power compared to halogen bulbs. I definatly recomend it if you can do it though. If I had a camera i'd post some pics of the light and the instalation... i'm saving up for one though... so hopefully sometime soon!
