Not for the average driver but if you really know how to drive a car, then yes.

Well to me, have stick isnt all about racing or w/e.. i just like it cause i can control my car alot better. And its so much more fun driving stick than an auto.

i'd say the difference is at least 1/2 to a full second in the quarter, depending on the driver.

in amateur 1/4 miles more are fuxed up by bad shifting than anythign else, so unless you are very confident in your shifting abilities under preasure than i doubt there is much of an advantage for the manual...

A skilled shifter driving a FWD 4 or 6 cylinder can lower his 1/4 mile time by quite a bit. However, if you drive something with a lot of power, you're better off with an automatic. My neighbor races his Mustang SVT Cobra and he said he has a big traction problem - his wheels break loose with every shift. It's so bad he's considering slicks for race day. I used to race a 340 Duster automatic w/ 4.88 gears and never lost to someone driving a manual trans. As soon as my tires grabbed I'd jump 4 or 5 car lengths while they were still spinning.
