i'm planning to do my 90K service. has anyone replaced their timing belt, water pump, etc. on their own? any tips or things to watch out for?

pay someone to do it. unless your real sure what your doing. you could destroy your engine if the timing is wrong

I didn't think it was all that tough... mechanical wise. It is just a pain in the ass labor wise.. After dooing it. I'm shure the 550 the local mechanic charges is woth it.

Couple things to watch out for

Don't over tighten belt or it makes a super charger type whyrrrrr noise

Be carfull with the plastic cover's they break (i know)

The crankshaft pully requires a tool or some improv to get the nut off.

Oh... and make shure if it's your only car that you don't have to go anywhere for a day or two.

and and.. the ballencers are kinda fun to line up. Why honda can't just put it on the crank I don't know. Freakin engineers.

thanks for the replies and tips. i used to rebuild engines (4-bangers) and pretty much have the tools. however, i'll consider your comments and rethink about doing it myself.

Yeah most people do anyways because the Labor for checking the belt and changing it is not much difference. In theory if u check it and it perfect then you don't have to change it.
