DIY for Fuel Filter
DIY for Fuel Filter
Hello, I looked and looked and could not locate a DIY for the fuel filter. It looks pretty straight forward but I wanted to know if there are any special steps I need to be aware of before I begin.
I have a 99 2.3CL.
Can anyone help me out. I located a fuel filter thread from several years ago but the info was not available any longer so it was of no help.
I appreciate any assistance.

fuel filter is a bitch to get out, unless you have a vehichle lift so that you can grab it from under the car.
i know you're suppose to also open up your gas cap before you change it out to release pressure.......theres probably something eles you should do too, but i forget

It's RIGHT on top against the firewall, I still wouldn't call it easy, but easier than a 2.x yeah probably, but the steps are the same, it's the SAME fuel filter
Wow!! That was fast. And I really appreciate there responses. The filter is right there and looks pretty accessible.
How much would a shop charge to do this or what is the amount of time a manual says this job takes?
I dont mind doing my own work but I am not trying to get my hands dirty.......just kiddin. But if it is an all day affair, Im not down with that.
Thanks again all for the great responses.....even the one about lighting up a smoke while working on fuel lines!!

The cig lighting comment was a joke, red text means sarcasm, but yeah I think the 2.3's have the fuel filter right up top too. I just got my fuel filter and banjo socket in over the weekend, so I'll post a diy next week with all the pics, and post a link to it in this thread. Shouldn't be an all day affair. Just a couple bolts, and washers. My boy does them in 5-10 mins flat as his work, he just refuses to do mine cuz he's a lazy bitch so i'm doin mine myself.
